When to expect every Mac to get the AI-based M4 processor
NYC362 said:blastdoor said:That roadmap implies no m3 Mac mini. I wonder if there will also be no m3 Mac Studio and if maybe the Mac Studio will get an m4 faster than we’d otherwise expect. And if all that turns out to be true, I wonder if the explanation might be that the first 3nm process from TSMC had yield issues, so maybe Apple wants to move to N3E ASAP
Also, putting an M3 Max and Ultra chip into a Studio in June, really makes no sense as the processors (at least for the Max) as it would already be eight months old.I would imagine Apple will have the vanilla M4 pretty much ready to go to production but it will not have much in terms of significant AI enhanced features that will be added to the Pro/Max/Ultra models in which I can see each iteration being more AI capable. This also allows Apple to continue working on further AI enhancement capabilities that will be part of the Ultra or Max. -
Rumor: M4 MacBook Pro with AI enhancements expected at the end of 2024

There is speculation that Apple will have a discrete monolithic M3 Ultra chip with a silicon bridge to make a M3 Extreme consisting of 2 M3 Ultra chips. That would be interesting. If so, this could open up a MBP18 model or MBP16 with the M3 Ultra. Just not a lot of customers for a Mac Studio with Ultra or a Mac Pro with Ultra or Extreme. -
Apple's next big thing could be a home robot
Interesting but nothing more than R&D at this time. Maybe we see something come out in another 5 years. I would think Apple would rather buy a robotics company that is significantly further along than they are. Heck why not buy a robotics company since they wasted $10B on the Apple Car which made a little more sense as the prior rumours of an Apple branded TV set. -
iOS 18 is coming soon with AI, a new interface, and accessibility: what to expect at WWDC ...
I will be shocked if Apple has a massive overhaul of Siri and iOS with AI features this summer since they seem to be late to the AI party and these features do not get into released software and hardware in a short period of time. I suspect the 2025 series of processors (A and M series) will be the first ones to have significantly improved AI hardware and it seems unrealistic to believe this year’s A18 processor (which is already designed and in pre production) will have anything more than just core and clock increases. Of course Apple will hype any AI related enhancements to the moon but I suspect 2025 will be the year we see significant implementation of AI in Apples devices. -
Apple believes Spotify wants a free ride, and the EU may just give it to them
kmarei said:avs_htx said:lam92103 said:Free ride? I have paid for my device. That comes with both the hardware and the software. What exactly is Apple doing here for Spotify? The only one excuse they have is the AppStore, but then allow people to move off it.Now this would mean a more fragmented app landscape, and possibly a less secure one, but when the execs at Apple can’t see past their greed, there is not much option left. The sane option here would be to let people pay for in-app purchases without asking for a cut. They can still make money off App Purchases, which is the model most small developers use.
if i buy a used iphone 15, i did not go into an agreement/contract with apple since i did not buy it from them, nor were those terms relayed to me at time of purchase
