  • Austrian collection of 1,100 Macs seeks rescue from disposal

If he only wants 30,000 euros for it I'm sure he'll find someone, that's not a lot of money for such a huge collection.

  • Analysts change tune, now say $1,000 Huawei Mate 20 Androids are a bargain

Android phones don't work at the ultra high end because as you go up the pricing tiers the features people care about change. Wealthy people care a lot about their privacy and Android does not offer that.

They seem to think that making a device out of premium materials is enough but it isn't.

Someone once asked Steve Jobs if he was worried about competitors copying him, and he said no, because "They don't know what to copy."

She looks like she could almost be Tim Cook's sister to me.

I think on her very first project, which was marketing the Apple Watch, she messed up trying to selling it exclusively in fashion magazines etc. I know computer nerds aren't cool but we are early adopters and Apple should be glad to have a cadre of early adopters in their customer base not embarrased

She sold it the idea to fashion magazines and got it seen and worn by the kind of people who don't usually endorse technology. This had the effect of making the watch appealing to well-off ordinary people, rather than dooming it to a relatively small number of geeks.

So what you're basically saying is she messed up because you're not her target audience.

Sorry, she was aiming for the mainstream. No one in the real world cares what programmers think.

I think she first tried to make it socially acceptable by denying that it was a technology product and trying to make it look like a fashion product. That didn't work so they switched to making it look like a fitness product which did work. So I stand by my claim that her first idea failed, but equally I stand by my claim that she has done a good job since then.

  • Apple to donate 1,000 Apple Watches to aid binge eating study

One question I have in life is why some people seem to have a high degree of free will/self discipline and others are just leaves on the wind. Heart rate is not the first place I would start to look for an answer, but more data of any kind can't hurt!

  • iPhone sales may be taking big hit in China because of weak smartphone market

I would tend to believe Ming-Chi Kuo (given his track record) over Rod Hall. But whether the iPhone is slowing or not, and in what markets, the Watch seems like the growth product going forward anyway. So much potential.
