  • Apple Business Chat makes first European appearance at Cannes Lions festival

The third paragraph is why this is one of those technologies that will really take off. Businesses will realise that if they shift to chat instead of phone as their primary support mechanism (which a lot have already, though through the web instead of Messages) then replacing people with bots will be easier. Your support staff will only handle the most difficult 10% of questions.

  • Apple launches keyboard service program for 'small percentage' of MacBook, MacBook Pro own...

Maybe Apple knows why and how keyboard fails, but we don’t.
We don't in detail, but it stands to reason that if Machine A has actions in the centimetre range and machine B has actions in millimetre range then machine B will be more susceptible to smaller debris. I have one of these keyboards, and everything is very "tight."

I have a 2017 Macbook Pro and did have a problem with one of the keys getting stuck. But I don't think the butterfly switches are fundmentally flawed, because the keys do feel more stable than my previous 2015 MBP.

They just need to have a few mm more travel and not be so tight in their tolerances, and they will be a genuine improvement. It was a basically good idea pushed a little too far in implementation.

Pre-announce? Stay quiet? Either way Apple loses on forums like this one.
What about the third alternative? Keep up. Then you don't face the decision of pre-announcing or staying quiet in the first place.
Keep up to what, exactly? A new product takes as long as it takes. Or to quote Id Software, “It’ll be ready when it’s ready”. So the question is one whether to pre-announce it, or wait until it’s finished. In either case the techie pundits will whine, as lkrupp explained.
Keep up with the competition of course. Every year when Dell brings out a new XPS 15, release a new Macbook Pro same week. When HP brings out their new Z-workstation, update the Mac Pro same week. When Intel releases this year's NUC, update the Mac Mini same week. Show 'em who's boss. And no, Apple fans would not be whining but cheering!
