Apple has two-year head start on Android in 3D sensing arms race, report says
We humans can perceive depth and identify/delimit the objects in the room purely with binocular vision, without having to actively emit laser light. So it should be possible for a phone to do it to, with 2 cameras and smart enough software.Maybe if Apple really does have a monopoly on a key component for 2 years competitors could try a more software centric approach.
