  • Epic and Samsung send 'Free Fortnite' care package with jacket, Galaxy Tab S7 to influence...

Oh dear... now I’m really afraid for Apple’s fate as a company. Digital influencers... talk about whipping out the big guns!

When you see the impact those semi-literate social media fads have been causing by promoting junk Android hardware for the last decade, you know Epic switched to the winning side!

Just how much more evidence is needed to prove that this kind of advertising is beyond pointless? It’s tantamount to outright burning the money!

  • Major news publishers association joins the Coalition for App Fairness

Any of those reputable papers bother to cover the Hunter Biden story when the news first broke, as to kind of covering it now? Any of them bother to investigate the election corruption charges (2020 not 2016) that had tons of affidavits and evidence instead of immediately writing it off (pun intended) as fake news? How about the AMA's recent retraction of its previous stance against prescription of Hydroxychloroquine to COVID-19 patients? Hundreds of thousands of people needlessly died from that one.

These "reputable papers" are a joke.
I don’t like, nor want, to call people stupid... but they got to meet me halfway and stop being stupid.

That bit of “news” was given way more airtime than it warranted for. And that’s just because there was nothing there! Big nothingburger as far as anyone credible could see.

We don’t have to jump all the hoops every time a right wing nut yanks a “story” out of their butt, just so other nuts feel that all is fair and balanced. That’s called feeding the trolls!

  • Facebook continues newspaper attack over Apple ad tracking privacy program

And yet I don’t recollect ever seeing any relevant ad anywhere. Ever! Facebook and Google know everything in my life but my d*ck size! Knowledge that came at a steep cost to my data plan and battery usage on my devices. For what?

It’s a scam industry as far as I’m concerned. It’s time to grant that the emperor has no clothes!

I agree though that will be hard to convince a generation used to get a lot “for free” on the internet that the we are far better off paying directly for stuff! Ultimately, that’s is in our better interests as consumers, and better for producers too, without ad money kibitzing everything they do!

  • Apple hits back at Facebook, says new iOS 14 ad tracking rules provide user choice

Disclaimer: I am not a wealthy man by any reasonable measure.

I am more than willing to pay for content that I consume. There are a lot of misconceptions about the “free internet”.

It should be free, as in freedom of speech. But it’s not, because ad money distorts what is available in it, like every other media.

It never was free, as in free beer. Most of us pay quite a bit of money for fiber/DSL in our homes/business, and then some more for mobile data plans.

I’ve all but abandoned free content in TV and YouTube, because my time is valuable to me, and I don’t like to throw it away seeing (invariably) irrelevant ads. Satellite/Cable TV has as much ads as what I get from free with a simple aerial, so I canceled my subscription.

I had the misfortune to find a single streaming service that was egregious enough to put “unskippable” minute length ads before 5 minute long content! It lost my business even before the free trial week expired!

Paying for content is better to both consumers and producers in the long run.

  • Attackers breach cybersecurity firm FireEye, steal hacking tools

That got to sting. “Cyber security firm got hacked” really puts the moron in oxymoron! Although I don’t have reason to doubt the alleged involvement of a nation state, what else could they say to try and mitigate this PR disaster?!
