Congress asking Apple and other big tech what they're doing about deepfakes
I'm not American, nor a lawyer, but doesn't the First Amendment say "Congress shall [not] abridge freedom of speech"? When they put pressure on any company to "proactively address the proliferation of deepfake pornography" isn't that a direct attempt to make companies abridge people's freedom of speech?
I recognized one signatory on the list of questions. She was a Democrat. Were all the signatories Democrats? -
Leak: what law enforcement can unlock with the 'Graykey' iPhone hacking tool
DAalseth said:I fully expect 47 to push through a law requiring Apple to build in a back door. With that, there will go our security.
Trump doesn't have the constitutional authority to create any law. Maybe you know that, but the way you worded it sounded like he has some degree of law-making authority. -
Rumors of an Apple-made TV set are back again
I would never, ever buy a smart TV. That's because no Smart TV that I've ever seen has ever described what data it sends back to the manufacturer's HQ once I connect it to my network. The current manufacturers of Smart TVs have a Facebook mentality: "Don't tell the consumer what kind of data we are taking from them."
If Apple ever sold a Smart TV, they would make it extremely clear what data is being sent back to them. -
