Apple Maps renames Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America after official database update
coolfactor said:tzterri said:From what I understand, it's only for American devices the rest of the world will still see the Gulf of Mexico.
As this is an executive action it will disappear with the next president.
Are we great yet because I'm just embarrassed
"World destroying leadership"??? For changing a name? You must really hate Biden then, since he probably set the record for changing 650 geographical body names in 2022 alone. But Trump changes one name, and you call him a destroyer of civilization. That's called TDS. Look it up.
And you probably don't know this, but each language and country has its own right to name any feature by any term it wants, for use within its own country. For example, "Mount Everest" is known by many different terms in many different countries. Map makers refer to each country's database of geographical terms to provide individual names for each country. Some languages refer to the "Andromeda Galaxy" as "Fairy Maiden Galaxy." If Trump tried to rename the Andromeda Galaxy to "American Eagle Galaxy" you would probably call him a "civilization destroyer" for that too, right?

How the new Apple Invites app works, and when you want to use it
9secondkox2 said:Um... I think Apple needs to hire Apple to make this app.
This one SUCKS.
How the heck did this get approved?
Teh great thing about Apple is that the grandmas of the world can figure it out. But this... this was made for developers to use, not the typical tech-averse. -

Why Walmart still won't accept Apple Pay
(As the article says) we've been using Apple Pay to purchase Walmart goods for five years... here in Canada. And I don't think it's limited to in-store purchases... I believe both their online website and their app for iOS (maybe even for Android) also both accept Apple Pay.
Since 90% of Walmart's products appear to be made in China, I presume China is putting pressure on Walmart to track their users so the Chinese Communist Party can purchase Walmart's user data. ;-)
