Samsung now projects $5.3B hit on profits from Note 7 fires
maestro64 said:I do not believe this number, I think Samsung is jacking up the number. They are trying to send a signal to the market that demand for the galaxy 7 is higher than reality. I also believe the rolling up other costs and loses they have and using the opportunity to expense them all at the same time so it does not look bad they have other issues. I have seen companies do this exact thing in the past.

More Galaxy Note 7 fires reported as cryptic communications from Samsung complicate exchange proces
What's so sad is that for decades imports from cheap Asia manufacturing have been sub-par but we haven't done anything about it. Copper plumbing fittings from China are terrible quality - lucky to get any decent amount of copper in them, and after a few years you can snap them in half with your thumb. They have found lead paint in child toys, sawdust in dog food, etc. etc. etc. Yet we keep buying the crap, and quality may start at a decent level but when no one is looking all of a sudden they are shipping complete crap into our country. Then, good luck getting the Chinese or other government to cover warranty or campaign or other costs. Yet we still keep shipping our manufacturing over there. So sad.

New Galaxy Note 7 fire raises worries Samsung didn't fix battery problems
I was in a Best Buy a few days ago and made my typical joke to the cell phone 'kid' on duty - "Hi, do you have any Samsung Galaxy Notes in stock? I hear they are a 'hot' item!!" Got the customary fake laugh, then the kid actually said to me, "Even with the battery problem it is still a better phone than the iPhone."
Really? Wow, they used to say how badly Apple users were 'brainwashed'...
