  • All of Apple's 2017 iPhones will include fast charging via Lightning port, not USB-C

The royalties Apple collects through its Made for iPhone program are but a tiny drop in the bucket in comparison to other revenue streams. I don't believe Apple would keep Lightning just because of that. For Apple to move from Lightning to USB-C, there'd have to be major advantages regarding usability, etc.
You're kidding, right? Apple makes a ton off of selling cables and chargers. If fact, they recommend you use only Apple charging / synch cables. Using cheap 3rd part cables / chargers could possibly invalidate your warranty if the phone gets damaged from charging (and Apple can prove it), The profit margin on their cables is HUGE!

  • Apple's Siri gets 'LEGO Batman Movie' tie-in with custom Bat-phrases

You know what Apple? Instead of wasting your time on this type of crap… How about actually upgrading and developing Siri's backend to be faster and more knowledgable? I mean, Siri's response time is atrocious compared to Amazon Alexa (even when both are operating on the same home network).

  • Former Apple engineer says company more rigid, less competitive under Tim Cook than Steve ...

It's not. Maybe that's why Steve felt Tim Cook was the right man to take over for him. I find it amusing that the same people who piss all over Tim Cook worship Steve Jobs like a saint. Pretty much the entire executive team at Apple was there during the Steve Jobs era and many of them worked directly for him. If people have an issue with current Apple leadership blame Steve for not doing a better job cultivating the right leadership team for when he was no longer there.
Well, we all know from past experience, that Jobs really wasn't good at picking people to run his company. Sculley grew profits initially then over expanded into all the wrong products in the 90s almost causing Apple to go bankrupt.

  • Mac losing focus of Jony Ive, others in Apple management - report

Certainly appears that the professional Mac is going the way of the dodo at Apple. Which to seems self defeating to me considering the only way to develop iOS apps is to use a Mac. (Yes, I know about PC Hackintosh, but it's not approved). You need a reasonably beefy Mac to do decent development.

Isn't neglecting the tools that support your bread and butter platform suicide? I hope we're not going back to the dark days of Metrowerks CodeWarrior!
