Apple Services and the ecosystem of value capture
I really do hope the other writers at AI follow your lead by doing some actual journalism, ie researching the topic at hand, providing context, and directly addressing the commonplace bs that is being circulated about that topic. THAT would be progress! Most AI articles seem to be The Verge leftovers, with less insight than a parsnip could muster. Apple - Jobs - hit on a very particular business model back in the late 90's which revolves around being competitive and attractive. By placing their customers first, us, Apple conducts business unlike anyone else even can, let alone try. There's no way for Apple to gain a serious competitor unless there is a merger of current market players. Very unlikely, though, as all of them are beset against each other despite being labelled as 'partners'. I really do see Apple assuming stronger roles in finance, politics, welfare, education, environmental protection, and international relations, far above and beyond what it has already accomplished, for better or worse. -
