  • Internal Apple communications show debate, uncertainty about 'right to repair'

Apple’s stance on ‘Right to Repair’ is indisputably corrupt. I’m not surprised there is a revolt in the company. Even the hardcore cult cheerleading fanboi’s here should condemn Apple for this.
The story of Linus Tech with their iMac Pro should be a wake up call to everyone.
Apple has no right even being in the business when a stuck key from dust is an insanely wasteful $900 repair.
There is never a need to engineer products that can’t be repaired - outside of insatiable greed for profits.

  • Apple researching Apple Pencil tech to sample the color of physical objects

Would be the most interesting innovation since Jobs died.

Readership down because they are ultra left mouth piece press

Ah, the ignorant American turns up right on cue.

    A) You haven't got the FAINTEST idea of what "ultra left" actually means.
    B) The NYT is barely rated as ever-so-slightly left, but that's only because they continue to print fact-based articles.

😆😆😆😆😆😆 They are an over-the-top leftist political rag with zero credibility in journalism. If they are so fact based, why do they have to have a full page spread on retractions for pretty much every article through the week? You have zero clue about journalism. Sorry, but that’s the truth.

  • Components for first Apple Silicon Macs will cost Apple more, says Kuo

(Analysts seemingly forget that when enumerating all of the included hardware, Apple's devices are competitively priced, especially in the Pro range.)

    Waaaaa?
Dude... not even close. Not even close. That’s before even taking into account Apple’s built in obsolescence by gluing everything down and having to buy gobs of external peripherals with hubs and adapters and proprietary cables.

Apple was competitive up to about 2012 - but has screamed away since.
Apple’s announcement yesterday officially makes the Mac Pro the worst investment in computer history.

  • On May 6, 1998 the iMac changed Apple -- and the entire world

I am looking at my Bondi Blue iMac right now.  It still runs though I think the power supply is slowly failing.  I have 10.4 on it IIRC.  I booted it a few months ago. I need to copy a few things off it.

I bought it the very first day it was available in August 1998 (for the whole market, not just the education market) at Computer City.  I used it for years.  It was my main non-dev machine.  (I was doing webobjects on OpenStep/OPENSTEP and dev on Rhapsody using the OpenStep APIs which were not immediately available on the iMac).

I eventually bought a G4 aftermarket upgrade for it but never installed it.  Still NIB.

I had the G3 Bondi as well... fantastic Mac. First thing to check before your power supply is the power unit battery. Looks like a watch battery. Easy to replace.
