So the M1 used its neural accelerator but the i5 was running in software on the CPU only? How are these results compatible at all?
As far as I'm aware the neural engine was not being used. This is comparing the current M1 13" MacBook Pro vs the previous generation Intel 13" MacBook Pro. Both have integrated graphics processors.

So it TensorFlow really optimized or just compiled for M1 sand real optimization is on the way?

  • Apple's M1 MacBook Air smashes Windows on ARM in new benchmarks

To me the headline implied running Windows on the Air.
I was expecting to see Parallels or another emulator running Windows better.
My 2012 Mini runs Windows better than most dedicated Windows machines.

You all should know that Roseta will smoke any other x86 emulations for long as M1 has unique features speeding x86 emulation. dont remember what exactly but was something with memory ordering or task scheduling....

  • Ecosia now a default search engine option on iOS, iPadOS, macOS

What a sh**tty name but wow what a company. Would be cool if it become more popular than Bing. Can't see it becoming bigger than Google with that name, same for DuckDuckGo.
Ecosia uses Bing as the back end, which is why it's so disappointing. Results are terrible. Fortunately, there is a button to repeat your search in Google. This way, you can get Ecosia some tree dollars but then get proper results.
Same experience here. No re let in three pages. Google on first position. But thanks for button tip.  haven't  realized that.

  • Docker rolls out initial support for Apple Silicon Macs

I think this is very important and welcomed news for developer community and Apple Silicon platform   Very important piece of puzzle.

  • Apple Silicon iMac & MacBook Pro expected in 2021, 32-core Mac Pro in 2022

Just to add something, GPU core counts are all counted differently and meaningless across architectures. An Apple GPU core is 128 ALUs, say an Intel one is 8.

Seeing what they did with the 8C M1, the prospect of a 128 core Apple GPU is amazingly tantalizing, that's 16,384 unified shaders.

I did some trivial calculation taking 15% zear increase in performance and 128 core M3 graphic could offer 400 000 score for OpenCL and 460 000 for Metal. That 2x and 4,7 more then top performing cards. While keeping 60 W TDP. Take as really gross guess based on current numbers without taking decrease of performance in high core number unit that can occur. I have no expertise.
