  • Invite-only meeting details state of AI, machine learning research inside Apple's halls

    Impressive.

This is the type of stuff I want Cook to talk about and show in videos at product events instead of his social crusades.
I agree; Impressive and great that the total silence in some areas has been broken, but disagree with your sentiment that his is what Cook should talk about and show. Now, people can argue how/why it was broken; the need to attract/keep talent? The need to make it clear to some that Apple can be competitive, in the AI space, without having to locally (on their servers) collect massive amounts of data? (To be proven still, yes)

I think (could be wrong) that a vast majority of shareholders (I know how badly you've voiced the idea of them taking the company private, IIRC) and customers couldn't care less about this stuff.

Those of us who enjoy reading about this still and even marginally, or more understand it, are in the minority. Till that changes, I think it would be a bad idea for Cook to put this at or near the forefront; it, IMO, would make Apple complex, not the "simple" company which appeals to the masses. IMO, it would make Apple more Google/MS like (And before people jump at me, I happen to like (certain) Google/MS products/aspects as well). It's the job of Apple's head of machine learning to talk about this and maybe iOS/macOS heads to touch on a bit, no?

  • Flawed 3rd-party chargers reportedly culprit in Apple's China iPhone 6 investigation

Every time a friend says to me, "Why would I pay apple $20 for a charger when I can pick it up on Amazon for $5 and it does the same thing?", I literally cringe. Same thing with lightning cables.

And then I try to educate them (http://www.righto.com/2012/10/a-dozen-usb-chargers-in-lab-apple-is.html?m=1) and then I just leave it alone. And then, they complain about how their battery doesn't hold a charge any more and how it's Apples fault (and yes, is some cases, it very well maybe).

  • China looks into sudden iPhone 6 & 6s shutdowns plaguing some Apple customers

    You know what?

    FUC CHINA.

    yes I said it.

Apple should just leave China. The hell with them. Apple will take a short term hit. But I'm sick of their crap.
Even with ZERO China sales Apple's revenues and profits will far surpass Google. Yet Google is worth more than Apple right now taking cash into consideration.

Move all the factories out of China. Stop selling iPhones their.

Another big mistake by Cook.  Pinning all of Apple's future in a communist state. A totally irresponsible thing to do.

Instead of growing the brand in the USA, Europe, Japan, ect he went for the quick fix in China. Now its biting him in the ass.
    "Stop selling iPhones *there"

And relax dude. For all you/we know, maybe a bad batch of aftermarket chargers and not so tolerant or just more sensitive charging circuitry in the 6/6s? Or just the Chinese making shit up?

But not knowing, you shouldn't just spew shit like that.

I mean, I get free speech (and the right to your own opinion and all), but really, damn, lol.

  • Apple activates single sign-on for tvOS and iOS beta testers

Sounds promising: "If you don't see your TV provider, sign in directly from the app you want to use."

I'm hoping that even if not everyone jumps aboard the single sign-on wagon, Apple has exposed some method to authenticate (via the provider app) without needing to head to a website!

Would also be nice in cases such as mine where I use Sling, but have other promotional 'channels' via my cable subscription as well. And I'm sure cases where friends/family are using/sharing credentials.

  • Apple to announce 'watch list' TV discovery app at Oct. 27 event - report [u]

They better announce a new AppleTV.
Aside from 4K support, which supposedly could be enabled via a software update by Apple, would there be any benefit to a hardware refresh?

IMO, everything -needed- (obviously, I don't know everything that is needed) is accomplishable via software and the A8 in the 4th Gen Apple TV is probably a litlte underutilized unless gaming, which unless its basic gaming, isn't the 4th Gen Apple TV's strong suit anyway?
