Oppenheimer: Apple 'lacks the courage to lead the next generation of innovation'
I"m not even caring that they have failed to innovate. They can't even keep their current products remotely up to date. 3+ year old MacPro's are unacceptable. The seamless Mac eco-system is being fragmented and destroyed by the cancelation of key products (Monitors, routers). Apple monitors are pure source of advertising for a company. Going into an office and seeing all those lit Apple logo's was fantastic mind share. Now we get to see plastic LG monitors and have no clue whats running them. But hey, Apple will only make a hundred million on monitors instead of a 100 billion, so it needs to be axed.
They have been switching to USB-C for over a year now and yet only 2 models have them. How am I suppose to buy USB-C peripherals for my company when our MacPro's, iMacs... etc can't use them. The "Hello" event should have a been a complete transition day for all of Apple's desktops, laptops, iphones, and iPads over to USB-C. That's how you transition. I guess, Tim and company really have replaced their computers with iPads because they have no clue how their decisions are affecting people in the real world.

Cook talks Apple's social activism in interview promoting World AIDS Day plans
robin huber said:Lots of profitable corporations go out of their way to do things that are socially responsible. They even tout it because they know that most of their customer demographic applaud it and reward them by choosing their products over their don't-give-a-shit-about-the-environment competitors. It costs more to be be green but it pays off. Think Nike, Subaru, etc. Many (not all) of those who decry Cook's bringing his social activism to the company have issues with gays that their profits criticism is a "beard" for. -
Apple AirPort Extreme claims top marks in consumer-grade wireless router survey
Rayz2016 said:altivec88 said:$200 billion in the bank, 115,000 employees.
and nobody can design an aluminum monitor frame with an apple logo and stick a panel from another manufacturer in it.
and don't have enough people to keep staff on the highest rated router.
and can't update their MacPro line for 3+ years even though intel updated the CPU twice with the same socket
and can't update their other desktops for years.
iPhone design has stayed the same for the last 3 years
iWatch 2 has the same design, ooooh ahhhh, they added a gps and made it thicker.
What the heck have they done with 100k+ employees in the past few years. How can companies a fraction of Apple's size and much more limited resources make more products and keep them all current. Man, when the iPhone party is over, Apple is going to be in some serious trouble.
Another person who thinks that all of Apple's 115,000 employees are all qualified to work on every product.
"Hey, why doesn't Apple pull six members of San Francisco store retail staff and get them working on designing the new Mac Pro? And if the graphics drivers look like they're gonna be late, grab a few janitors to pick up the slack."
I guess Dell, HP, etc... must be using 3 members from their retail staff in Texas because they managed to upgrade their workstations twice in this time. They must have used the cafeteria cook to do the graphic drivers too. I guess its just too hard for Apple to do this stuff so 3 year old graphic cards will just have to be okay /s -
Cook talks Apple's social activism in interview promoting World AIDS Day plans
dysamoria said:sog35 said:Cook needs to GTFO Apple and become a CEO of a charity organization.
Cook's stance on various social and political issues has alienated hundreds of millions of customers and potential customers.
Why can't Cook just STFU and give us great products and services?
Maybe you could provide some actual evidence for your arbitrary "hundreds of millions of alienated potential customers"? What's that? No you can't? What another surprise. You claim not to be a bigot, so why are you so bothered by alienating bigots and Trump supporters? If you're going to say something like "social politics has no place in business", then just save us all the trouble and don't post a response because you're clearly not getting the fundamentals of society/human civilization.
Alienating bigots is exactly the right way to deal with them. Bigots should be peer-pressured out of all places of influence in society. This is the last area of Apple's business activities that I have no complaints against.
Yes, anytime you take any political stance, you make a percentage of people unhappy. Make multiple statements and the number of unhappy people increases exponentially. Business 101: CEO's should be low key and stay out of taking any positions of any kind. Lately, Tim is doing the complete opposite. Whether you agree or disagree with all his positions, you can not dispute that he's alienating large amounts of customers. As a shareholder, I want a CEO that runs the company and STFU so he gives no reason to lose customers. Tim had his time, but he feels he is beyond Apple now and wants to change the world. Thats great for Tim and the world but I believe its time for him to step down from Apple. -
Cook talks Apple's social activism in interview promoting World AIDS Day plans
I was okay with them doing this stuff when Apple was on its A game. When I hear that they don't have time for monitors, desktops, routers, etc....then they shouldn't be talking about anything other than the company.
As a shareholder, What Tim does on his spare time is his business. He's a good man and I have a lot of respect for him personally, however, Apple's product lineup is appalling at this time so until things are back in order, we should not be hearing about books, Christmas trees, Political views, Human Rights.
Don't get me wrong. These things are important, even more important than Apple itself but Tim and company are hired to run a corporation. Like Bill Gates, If Tim feels this is what he wants to do with him time, then he should pass the company torch to someone else.
