All the glib comments worry me a little.  This year alone a federal court found our government guilty of working with big social media platforms to sensor free speech, while the attorney general issued a memo to the FBI allowing parents who speak out at school board meetings to be classified as ‘domestic terrorists. Now we see a report that our government is using our technology to track us.  Aren’t we past the point for jokes?
Don't be a sucker. Step away from Facebook and stop being duped by Jim Jordan and his ilk.

    Don't be deliberately ignorant.

    1. A current FBI agent testified under oath that he was personally asked to go to a school board meetings, and record the license-plate numbers of the parent in attendance.
    2. The DOJ issued memo listing all the statutes under which parents could conceivably be charged, just for engaging in their First Amendment protected right to free speech on issues concerning the education of their children.
    3. The documents released by Twitter proved that multiple government agencies ordered and directed the censoring of our free speech rights at several social media companies. Two federal courts found this proof convincing enough that they barred the Biden Administration, its agencies, and specific persons within them, from communicating with any of those social media companies. That is am extreme remedy, but fitting given the extreme violations of civil rights that occurred.

None of this speculation - it is proven fact, and the worst violation of our Free Speech rights by our Government since the founding of our Republic.

  • UK backs down from nonsensical law after threats from Apple, WhatsApp

The BBC today is a clearly left-biased, woke, and anti-reality organization that is blatantly pushing a globalist agenda. It doesn't matter if the BBC leadership is Liberal or Conservative. It only matters that they lie shamelessly, and their 'news' programs are filled with propaganda. No one with a triple digit IQ would believe anything they say without independent corroboration. Saying you work for the BBC is not the flex you think it is.

  • UK backs down from nonsensical law after threats from Apple, WhatsApp

The author should stick to his area of expertise. His comment "The UK's calamitous decision to leave the European Union has left it with a raft of systemic problems" is both off-topic and incredibly stupid. Half those problems were caused by joining that dysfunctional organization run by tyrannical, woke bureaucrats. The UK is overrun by immigrants who are bankrupting their social services. It was the EU that made this possible, and this was one of the key drivers of the Brexit movement. The EU-imposed regulations, 'human rights' obligations, and 'open economy' destroyed the UK's manufacturing base, which is part of the reason the UK is in such sorry condition today. None of this has anything to do with this absurd law, which is what the the author should have focussed on, instead of unintentionally revealing his globalist bias. Is he going to write another article criticizing the equally stupid laws passed by the EU?

  • Lawmakers urged to block TSMC worker visas over Arizona plant construction

I am amused by the intensity of the rhetoric on this forum. People are taking things at face value and denouncing the other side. You have no idea how much truth there is in the statements of TSMC or the Unions. Learn to be moderate in your online speech until you have some real world experience.

Anyone who thinks Americans are racist has never worked anywhere else in the world. Just try working in Switzerland for a year - most localities won't even rent an apartment to a non-EU citizen. Or, try being a non-native in any Asian country, and you will learn the true meaning of racism. Hell, the Chinese are not just racist against non-Chinese, they even treat non-Han-Chinese like dirt.

Before criticizing America, understand that no other country in the world has experienced this level of job loss due to off-shoring of manufacturing and importation of illegal low-skill laborers. America has seen the greatest decline in living standards and population of the middle class of any western nation over the last 30 years. Western European countries have very strict labor laws that prevent offshoring of manufacturing jobs and mass hiring of non-citizens. Even so, those countries are hostile to foreign workers, even highly skilled ones. If anything, most Americans are not upset enough about these trends that have cost them them their economic security and quality of life.

Just FYI, I work in a highly regulated, technically complex industry, with direct experience in research, outsourcing/off-shoring, and manufacturing network 'optimization' (aka plant closures).

  • Galactic tensions rise as Apple TV+ series 'Foundation' returns in July

danox said: Like Frank Herbert’s Dune, the Foundation stories or I should say the characters in them were dry and one dimensional, like the Star Wars movies, great to look at, and technically brilliant,  .... I can see why Apple did it, because of massive popularity of Star Wars in Hollywood, which is also similar to the Marvel, and DC phenomenon.
This TV series is the worst thing that could have happened to Asimov's Foundation, and a terrible introduction to Asimov's greatest work for the general public. It steals the name and a few ideas, but has nothing to do with the story Asimov told. Now, this sorry excuse for a SciFi series will only discourage other, better writers from attempting to create a true 'Foundation' series. What a pity!

BTW, to be clear, Apple has nothing to do with the creative decisions in this series. It is produced by an independent company and Apple simply bought it, the same way networks buy shows created by other studios. I don't blame Apple for this garbage, but I do blame them for renewing it for another season.
