  • New 4-inch iPhone to run Apple's A9 chip, 'iPad Air 3' to sport A9X - report

Why would they sell a new phone for under $500? I can't see how that would possibly make sense.
It all depends on what they pack into it. If it's basically a iPhone 6s in 4" form, I'm guess we'll see it at $549. If they mix and match "old" and "new", I could see it drop to a $449/$499 or something like that.
That's not the point. Dropping the price that low would be the opposite of their approach as a company. It's a high volume-low profit strategy which is something Android and various Windows PC ODMs are known for. Apple is an affordable luxury brand.

By the way, price for these products are not determined by it's inputs.

  • Apple CEO hints at more cross-platform services, says iPad revenue will rebound by year's end

Cross platform is idiotic. I don't want to be associated with Android users. I pay for things and don't collect welfare checks.

  • Apple has become a regular at Stanford University's VR lab

I'm not excited about it either. My interest in VR is as big as my interest in 3D TV: non-existent. Different things excite me. When Apple opens its street view that'd be interesting, if it included augmented signage that'd be interesting, if they fixed corrections more quickly that'd be interesting. If they lower the price of iPads and iPhones. Now, that'd be exciting.
Count me among those who lived through the VR push in the 90's and who are still unimpressed today. There's a lot of "dog chasing its own tail" that goes on in every industry. No one wants to get left behind, so everyone copies everyone.
Ditto. But I don't think Apple will be making VR headsets. I'd bet your life that they're working on AR for the iPhone/iPad, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see it in the iMac or the rumored Apple car.

  • Google surpasses Apple as world's most valuable company

These people are insane man. Google spends ~$3 billion on R&D, while Apple spends 3x more at $9 billion, yet he says Cook "refuses to invest into the company..." Google will freely say how much they spend at wall-street conference calls. We could only ever know how much Apple spends because of the required SEC filings. Google will freely announce to the world what they're working on. We can only infer what Apple may be working on by their required FCC patent filings. Google's PR stunt has truly fooled this guy.

Google have yet to turn many, if any at all, of their projects into innovations, instead continuously relying on smartphone users viewing ads on the Web, YouTube, or any other ad placement mechanism. But If you remove the iPhone, all of Apple's other products combined still makes more money than the entire Alphabet company. I would say it is Google who is dependent on ads.

Wrong. In this case you should compare Apple's capex to all of it from biggest competitors in mobile and personal computing hardware space as well, not only Google's...
Huh? We're talking about Google vs Apple. Google announce R&D spending at $3 billion, while Apple SEC filing reports $9 billion. Capital expenditure is not necessarily R&D.
