Why in the world would Apple want to have to develop for and test iOS on hundreds of devices which are being built as cheaply and quickly as possible (with little regard for quality)?  They'd end up turning into Microsoft -- stuck in the quagmire of supporting cheap hardware and unable to move forward because of it.
I not looking at this from Apple's perspective or that they should do this.

I'm just wondering how much people would be willing to pay for iOS software.

I think an option for Apple is to start a secondary brand. They should call it Peach. But they won't be responsible for building/selling the hardware. They would simply license iOS to this hardware company. They could sell these Peach phones for $250-$300 in Africa, Eastern Europe, South America, ect. It would run a light version of iOS (sort of like what the older iPhones run now). Eventually many of these Peach buyers will upgrade to the real deal Apple. Its sort of like a Toyota/Lexus thing. But the good part is all the risk would be on the hardware company building these phones, and not Apple.
You are truly living in La la land. There's more chance of Tim marrying Kim Kardashian than that happening. Your constant ramblings about the share price and loathing of Tim as a CEO has finally unhinged your mind.
Suggesting a strategy of destroying your own margins by deliberately making an inferior product and then letting others make the hardware and have all that negativity..

If your going to quote someone keep to what they said and don't add words not said.
Yep, I didn’t do that.Stop begging the question.
Yes you did. Look at post 123 and what you quoted. I have no problem you saying I don't have practical experience but you put it into a quote of what I said.

If it wasn't such a horrifying prospect for the rest of the world (and for a large amount of Americans) I would almost literally laugh myself to death if Trump got elected. He is the epitome of a bankrupt politcal system.

If you're leading the most powerful business in the world... you don't wanna take too many big risks.  That could be trouble.

But I must ask... who would be a "better" CEO?  You know Steve Jobs chose Tim Cook as his successor, right?
I have no idea who they should hire. But I do know that Tim isn't a good fit.

The CEO of Apple needs to be respected and FEARED by Wall Street. He needs to be willing to take risks. He needs to be a massive equity owner, not just an employee. There is a reason why Apple has the worst PE ratio of any big tech company. The bottom line is Wall Street thinks Cook is a clown and give him zero respect. Apple's sub 10 PE is an absolute joke. Even shrinking companies like CocaCola, McDonalds, and Walmart have much higher PE ratio's.
    isn't Tim an Equity owner?
Isnt Tim showing "Jobs" like behaviour and not giving a toss about wall street and just running the biggest  and most profitable company in the world?
Isn't Apple making more money than they know what to do with it?
Isn't Apple launching products every year that sale like hot cakes?
Isn't Apple leading a cut throat sector and is considered to be the leader and closely followed by all the others?
Isnt Apple raking it by cornering the "premium sector" and having 90%+ of the profits in both mobile and "proper" PC's?

ok you've convinced me he's a bloody useless CEO. Maybe they should go private /s

Tim Cook tweeted about MLK. Good. I have no problem with that.

But Cook has time to tweet about MLK but no time to tweet about protecting Apple's imagine and brand? Apple has been dragged through the mud the last 6 weeks. Everyone saying iPhone sales are crumbling. Yet Cook says NOTHING!  All Cook had to do was tweet this:

"iPhone sales are looking great. Remember supply chain is very unreliable gauge"

"On tract to have our best holiday quarter every!"

If Tim Cook just did that the stock price would be at $120 right now.
    No it wouldn't.
