  • Too soon? Apple's new iPhone 7 ruffles feathers with Lightning audio, Home button changes

Apple Pencil on iPhone? Absolutely! You say it wouldn't work on a small screen? I used a pen for years on a Newton and Palm Pilot. Great for text input and bet the shit out of a finger for drawing. The technology has already been perfected for the iPad Pro and would be cheaper to implement for a smaller screen there are really no technical constraints for producing and marketing this now. Plus there's the added incentive that Apple gets to sell a $100 pencil add on. There is also no reason that a smaller thinner and could not be created if the current one is too big for your tastes. In any case, I'm going to buy the first one that comes out because it something I can use every single day. I would have jumped to Samsung just for this feature if I wasn't tied into the iOS universe. Please Apple, listen to me and not Appleinsider.

Go to Walgreens and get a $.99 conductive pen that you can use on any touch device for what you want to do. You don't need an Apple Pencil that adds cost for all of us and size and weight as well. An Apple Pencil is an artist and design tool . It also would reduce your battery life. You could even spend a little more and get a 2 in one pen that also can be used as a regular ink pen. My bank gave away these last year at Christmas. Never used it though because who's want to carry it around unless you might have a pocket protector.

  • Apple A10 Fusion in iPhone 7 family surprises, exceeds pre-release expectations

I wonder how accurate that performance-increase chart is? I'm still on an iPhone 4, which looks pathetically show compared to successive iPhones, yet it still works exceptionally well for what I do with it. Makes me wonder just how fast current iPhones are at basic everyday tasks? An iPhone SE is within my view.
Perception is reality. Your perception of the adequate performance of the iPhone 4 is based on the fact that you haven't used one of the newer iPhone versions. Let's say you upgrade to the iPhone SE, which may work for your needs. You will notice a huge jump in processor, video, and network speed. It's not shown on the above chart but should fall somewhere between the iPhone 6 and 6s. Now after using the SE for a short period go back to the iPhone 4. I have been using an iPhone 6 plus and my wife has an iPhone 5. Whenever she asks me to help her with it I can't stand two things; the size of the screen, and the speed of the system. Even going from the 4 to the SE you will gain a larger screen. You don't need an iPhone 7 but upgrading to the SE or a 6S would make sense since Apple is going to drop support for the iPhone 4 not long in the future now that iOS 10 is out. I think you'll find other features in the newer phones helpful. Just imagine all the things Apple has created that may make your life easier.

  • Apple issues 7th developer & 6th public betas of iOS 10 as final launch approaches

Only one data point, but I've had no power drain issues at all with any of the iOS 10 beta releases. iPhone 6 Plus.
Same here. Excellent battery life on the iPhone 6 Plus starting around Beta 3.

    iPhone
    iPhone 3G
    iPhone 3GS...

It would not be out of character for them to simply call it the iPhone 6GS...

Perhaps you should step back and calm down.
There is no way to respond to this. If you believe this statement, we can't possibly discuss this.

    iPhone 3G
    iPhone 3GS
    iPhone 4
    iPhone 4S
    iPhone 5
    iPhone 5s
    iPhone 6
    iPhone 6s
    iPhone ?

I'll give you one guess what comes next, and you can't use 6, G, or S, or E.

Perhaps you should step back and recalibrate your brain, which has been contaminated by junk media reporting. The entire idea that the iPhone has to look very different this generation to be considered new, and not iterative as a product on the whole, is an embarrassment to the people who have said it.
It makes sense that this iPhone will be named 7 and 7 Plus. Next year is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Apple is most likely holding a complete redesign for that model. It wouldn't make sense to introduce it this fall. At that time Apple will probably introduce a new naming convention. Jobs introduced the original iPhone at MacWorld in 2007. I speculate that at MacWorld 2017 a special version will be introduced that will be a limited edition "Anniversary Edition" with the regular version available in September. The theater at the new spaceship headquarters will be made available for the event as a tribute to Jobs who also designed and worked hard to get the building approved.

Of course that's all speculation on my part but if they put me in charge of marketing that's what would happen! ;-)

This "design similarity" bullshit has got to stop. Apple does not have to dramatically change the look of the iPhone for it to be a new iPhone. Never mind the fact that I see quite a few physical design changes coming, enough that your existing cases won't work.

But hey, it still has fucking ROUNDED EDGES, so its the exact same yawn.

I understand the frustration that most who post here about this new iPhone. However there are many new enhancements to the iPhone 7 and particularly to the 7 Plus.

One thing most of you forget is that 2017 will be the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Why wouldn't Apple wait until then to introduce a revolutionary new design for the iPhone? Jobs announced the original at WWDC in 2007. Will Apple introduce the new iPhone then? Who knows. Common sense will be that a completely new designed iPhone will be introduced sometime in 2017. So put your brains back in order and QUIT YOUR BITCHIN!
