What is practical application for 10K display?
A huge video wall display commonly used as backdrops for bands, sports arena jumbotron screens, etc.

I’m guessing this required a small measure of co-operation from the phone’s owner.

Still it does point to another possible point of failure for FaceID:

What if a pickpocket steals your phone, then shouts, “Hey you!”

When you turn around, he takes a 3D scan of your face, a picture of your eyes and a mould of your nose, before running off.

Now, with access silicon casting apparatus, a 3D printer and a reasonably talented portrait artist, he now has access to your phone until you reach can reach a computer to brick it … which will probably take you about an hour.

By the time the camera focused on my face, I will have closed the distance between us and have begun pummeling said pickpocket with fists and elbows. Then I would smash my iPhone into his face repeatedly until it unlocks.

What happens when we hit 1 nanometer? Does chip development end there?
No, because chips will switch from electrons flowing through wire to photons traveling through glass. The pipes won’t shrink but the messengers will travel 1000x faster.

It is really difficult to appreciate how small 7 nanometers is without some comparison. A strand of spider silk is about 7 micrometers wide, a full order of magnitude (1000x) thicker.
7 nm is also about 3 times smaller than the smallest virus.
We take it for granted, but it really is quite amazing that we can manufacture something that small - and smaller!

I'll be happy with my 2013  6 core Mac Pro for a few more years for sure, it is a fabulous Mac, probably the best ever and I've owned every one from the Mac II fx on,  but darn it, I wish Apple hadn't abandoned the 'professional software' I still use daily, namely Aperture.
I find the abandonment of Aperture particularly puzzling. It's difficult to believe they could not maintain that app with a small, focused team completely zeroed in on improving that product.
    its about FOCUS

Apple can't be distracted by some stuff like Aperture
Aperture was a well loved and powerful piece of software. Apple ceded a large number of professional photographers to Adobe by abandoning it.
Professionals kept Apple going through the dark days in the 90's before Jobs came back, though I bet you are too young to remember that.
