  • Vitals app will make you wear the Apple Watch while you sleep

Perhaps, to coincide with this, Watch 10 will provide 24 hours of expected battery life?
New watches already do last at least 24 hours. Still have to pick time to charge for about an hour.

  • EU Apple Pay antitrust action is complete, after NFC opened to competitors

I am not looking for more apps asking for access to my financial information. Given how uninformed my own bank is on any technical issues, I would hardly trust them with NFC. I trust Apple and I like the convenience of Apple Pay. Consumers will vote of course but the banks and other vendors will need to buy the votes as they won't win on security or convenience imo.

For me it is exactly the opposite.

I have a very close relationship with my local bank manager who lives just around the corner and who is easily accesible whenever I need him.   I am getting a personalized service and the bank itself has won several awards with its outstanding app proving its deep knowledge of the tech world.  (see https://newsroom.kbc.com/kbc-mobile-est-elue-pour-la-troisieme-fois-daffilee-meilleure-app-bancaire-mobile-de-belgique-par-le-bureau-detudes-international-independant-sia-partners#)

I do not trust Apple for my financials:  it is a foereign company, the nearest Apple Store is 2 hours driving and I don't get a presonalized service, and it does not support Android (which half of my family is using).   On top of that I don't like vertical integration: Apple is great for its hardware, but I don't want to be locked in in the Apple ecosystem for something like my financials, Apple has no business with my bank account details.

Then you should never have bought an iPhone.

  • iPhone 16 Pro again rumored to get Tetraprism zoom lens

How about they fix the scanner/ bar code issue, before adding other stuff. When scanning things like lottery tickets, I have to go use my old iPhone 7, as it’s clear & reads it instantly. My 14, it’s just a blur, unless you pull the camera back, but then it’s too far to read. My next upgrade will be a low end version, as the camera stinks.

Sounds like the problem lies somewhere between the floor and the phone.
Never once had a problem scanning anything, bar codes, QR codes, checks, docs etc.

  • Apple turns to Samsung for new iPhone 16 camera sensors

Since it's now July. I suspect "final quality testing" has long since been completed if they are going to be used in the 16 models.
If the author meant to say that Samsung has delivered sensors for production and that inventory is going through normal quality inspection of incoming materials, that would be different.

  • Apple is expecting big iPhone 16 sales, based on chip orders

For the last few iPhone generations, Apple incorporated new chip features into its Pro product line. The standard iPhone tier instead had the same chips one year later.

This is demonstrated in the iPhone 15 family of devices. While the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max used the A17 Pro, the iPhone 15 and Plus used the A16.

If I'm not mistaken, the 15 models were the only series that followed this path. Don't think it was the case with the 14 series. That would make last year the outlier.
