'iPhone 13' will have bigger batteries than the iPhone 12 family, leaker claims
eriamjh said:Here, I thought the iPhone Mini was not going to be refreshed because its sales were so bad compared to the other phones.
But I think no one looked at the real numbers.Exactly. Just because it might be the lowest volume iPhone, does not mean the sales were insignificant.I'd bet that the battery is growing because something is consuming a bit more power and that the battery life rating will remain essentially the same.Battery life is more than acceptable for most users, most of the time. -
Australian retailer pulls AirTag over battery safety concerns
jpellino said:According to the one I have in my hands, it's pretty easy. Press, twist and go. I see their point.According to iFixit’s recent teardown of the AirTag, the battery lid is quite difficult to remove. They state that even with clean, dry fingers it’s hard to get enough friction to turn and release it.Any child who can "press, twist and go" should probably know better than to eat a battery or be supervised by an adult who knows better. Ugh! -
Compared: Apple AirTag vs Tile Pro and Chipolo One Spot
GG1 said:I'll probably get a few AirTags once I start traveling again, but I'm surprised at how visible people want to make this item. Wouldn't the effectiveness be improved if other people didn't know you had this tracker attached to your item? I would bury an AirTag inside the item, such as luggage. Yes, I realize some items are too small (such as keys), so I'd use a nondescript cover in this case. But I realize I'm more practical/functional than fashionable. All of these devices are to help find lost items. While they may help recover stolen items, that is NOT their primary purpose.beowulfschmidt said:The only irritant I have so far with what I currently know about AirTags is the lack of any way to attach them to stuff without buying another accessory. This makes AirTags effective more expensive than the other options for for even some trivial use cases, like attaching to a keychain.
You cannot convince me that Apple couldn't have designed this device with an attachment point, especially with the example of the others having actually done so. That makes this is a deliberate design decision, and the cynical part of me says that it's precisely to encourage the purchase of accessories.
And for those who going to wax eloquent about "esthetics", that's a distraction.

'Severe' AirDrop exploit could expose email and phone number in highly specific circumstan...
"Highly specific circumstances" is definitely an understatement. So, a hacker would have to wait around for two people to decide to AirDrop something, then in the seconds the share sheet is open, perform a "brute-force" attack. And the most they can get is a phone number or e-mail address?!One would have a better chance of winning the lottery than falling prey to this.

Next-gen Apple TV could output 120Hz video, beta code suggests
Someone else mentioned earlier about TV manufacturer's that will stop updating their firmware as necessary. They just won't care for long.Aside from that, the whole U/I experience is much better than any built-in TV U/I that I have come across. In addition, the ATV does a much better job scaling up from HD to 4K than any TV I have seen. It's just incredible.
