    My current iPhone was picked up at the carrier store, setup by them and tested by me.  Then I didn't have to stop the CC payment.

  • Sketchy report says 400,000 Apple Vision Pro units to ship initially, 10 million by 2026

    Apple isn’t selling ten million of these the first year - unless they pull a Disney or target and buy a bunch up themselves to crow about sales. Apple has been really pushing this thing hard before it’s ever released. Not a great sign. Usually apple would keep the next big thing a closely guarded secret until launch day and bam! You saw it, knew all about it and wanted/needed to have it. With this thing, they have to hype it ahead of time, ignore senior staff concerns, set up developer evangelism programs, etc. 

    I imagine it will make the cool Christmas gift in 2024 for those who have the proper expendable income, but in can totally see the intial 400,000 thing. That sounds about right. 
    Yeah, they're pushing hard, but they have to.  It's not just the next iPhone or MBA, it's a whole new platform.  
    People need to be educated about it, and that will take a real effort.

    I've never dealt with the CDTFA.  However, the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) is no joke.  They make the IRS seem warm and cuddly.

  • 'Scary Fast' iMac with M3 is here with few external changes

    Well, the 5K is now officially dead, or on extended hiatus.  
    The 24" iMac has been minimally improved to keep up; however, with only the basic M3 and support for only one external display, it's a glorified, all-in-one home computer.  
    Maybe next year they will give us a 30-32" with an M3 Max.  Basically stuffing an entry Mac Studio into a 5-6K display that can handle 64G of unified memory and at least two more 5K displays.
    And please keep the chins.  I need a place for all the Post-Its...

    So the 24" only comes with the basic M3.  Nope.
    The 24" can only support one extra display.  Nope.
    It can replace the Intel 27", I think not.  

    My 5K debuted 8 years ago. 
    Since they discontinued the 5K, they have not come up with an all-in-one to replace it.
