  • Apple calls 128GB 'lots of storage' in new iPhone 15 ad

My iPhone has 64GB of storage and I'm using less than half.  Glad I didn't have to pay for more...
BTW...I have iCloud storage for photos (sync'd to my Macs) and I use iTunes Match.

  • Magnetic cables were a sleeper hit at CES 2024

Are these safe around external disks, SSDs, storage cards, and similar devices?  Maybe 10-20 years ago, folks could end up corrupting floppy disks, tape cartridges and other magnetic media with a misplaced magnet.  Would seem more economical to use cable ties (either velcro or one-time plastic, or in a pinch, old bread bag ties).
    Velcro FTW!!!

I'd be curious about using them for analog audio.  It might take a little testing to see if they alter sound in any way.

  • 'Scary Fast' iMac with M3 is here with few external changes

Well, the 5K is now officially dead, or on extended hiatus.
The 24" iMac has been minimally improved to keep up; however, with only the basic M3 and support for only one external display, it's a glorified, all-in-one home computer.
Maybe next year they will give us a 30-32" with an M3 Max.  Basically stuffing an entry Mac Studio into a 5-6K display that can handle 64G of unified memory and at least two more 5K displays.
And please keep the chins.  I need a place for all the Post-Its...

So the 24" only comes with the basic M3.  Nope.
The 24" can only support one extra display.  Nope.
It can replace the Intel 27", I think not.

My 5K debuted 8 years ago.
Since they discontinued the 5K, they have not come up with an all-in-one to replace it.

  • Long custom iMac order times don't mean that a refresh is imminent

I still use my 2007 iMac 24" for my music system, especially since it has an optical drive and and IR remote. My late 2015 5K was pretty much maxed out and works fine even while pushing an extra 4K screen...
