  • Apple Music violates EU antitrust laws, $39 billion fine possible

    1) The inevitable fine won’t be $39B or anywhere close to that, it’s just a theoretical maximum. In actuality the number will probably be under $5B.

    2) The notion that Apple would leave the EU even if they were hit with a $39B fine is laughable. Check the 10-K. Apple’s revenue was over $95B in Europe in 2022 alone. The EU probably represents >80% of that. Apple isn’t giving up the $500B in revenue and $100B+ in net income they’d make there the rest of this decade alone just to “stick it” to politicians. Get real.

  • Healthy demand suggests iPhone 12 'supercycle' is underway, analyst says

90 million iPhones sold in Q1 would be the dream. Given expected revenue in other areas, we’d be looking at Q1 revenue of $115b-$120b.

More realistically, I’m thinking it’ll fall somewhere between $105b-108b. Either way, biggest quarter ever is imminent.

  • What to expect from Apple's Q4 2020 earnings report

    Rayz2016 said:
I expect Horace Dediu and Neil Cybart to be right on the money, and everyone to be out by about ten billion (dollars, unit sales, whatever …)

I also expect the usual suspects round here to break their fingernails while scratching around for proof that Apple is only ten years away from crashing and burning.

Looks like he’s predicting just south of $69 billion. I hope that’s right!

    I’m going with $65.8 billion.
