  • iPadOS 16 Stage Manager needs enhanced virtual memory that only M1 supports

So, when will we see an M processor iPad Mini, will the price point be about the same as the 6, and how much trade in will they give me for my 6 I just got a few months ago?

  • Apple's iPadOS 16 brings full external display support, overlapping windows to M1 iPads

Would have been nice if these features were available for the iPad Mini 6, too. <sigh>
Yeah. I knew when I just got my mini earlier this year that I might have some regrets with it not having the M1. I work from it with external screen and keyboard/trackpad and these new expanded capabilities would have been very welcome. I'm usually one to keep a computer/device for a long time before upgrading but if they drop an updated mini with the necessary processor for all the new features, I might be upgrading faster than I've ever done on anything before. Not getting anything bigger though. I absolutely love how small it is.

  • Apple wants to make the iPad more laptop-like with iPadOS 16

Hmm, wonder if this will be limited to M1 iPads. I work often from an iPad mini connected to a monitor and with a keyboard and trackpad. While the multitasking doesn’t make a lot of sense for the size of the mini standalone, it would be great for when I’m in desktop mode.

  • The best HomeKit locks for your smart home in 2022

I’ve had the Schlage Encode Plus since release and it is wonderful. It’s performed flawlessly so far. HomeKey with my Apple Watch is great when coming back from my morning run since I don’t carry a phone. Still at 95% battery after 2 months or so. I’m surprised the review didn’t mention anything about Thread on the Encode, which makes for quick response and low battery consumption.
Only thing I wish it had was something like August sensor so that it wouldnt try to lock and instead notify you if the door wasn’t all the way closed. I do have a Homekit door sensor on that door so there’s probably a way to set up something, but I just haven’t taken the time to figure it out yet.

  • New MacBook Pro with M1 Max processor will ditch Touch Bar, adopt MagSafe

For those that want all the legacy ports and complaining about dongles, get one of those satechi hubs that fit along the edge of the MacBook and just leave it on all the time. USB A, sd, micro sd, hdmi, Ethernet. And it doesn’t make the MacBook any greater volume than it would have to be if all those ports were integrated.
