  • What we know about Samsung's upcoming iPhone rival, the Galaxy S10

I’ve been using iphones since iphone 3s and am fully invested in apples ecosystem with several iPads, mbps, Apple TVs, Apple Watches, iCloud subscription, Apple Music and airplay2 compatible speakers. Current phone is a 256gb xs but I think my next phone will be an android and I will be moving out of the Apple ecosystem. Apple feels like the bad Apple of old right before Steve came back. Products lack differentiation and extremely slow to refresh... not to mention they’re way overpriced. For example, the iPad Pro is priced like they’re high end laptop wtf?? The air charger... I didn’t even bother. When your customers start feeling like they’re being robbed constantly, the brand has a serious problem. I still remember buying my first gen ipad at about $500. Those were the days - yes Apple products command a premium as they should but you feel like you’re getting value for your money. Now it’s way above premium and nothing to show for.

Also Apple is taking this nonsense about craftsmanship and making things last to an extreme illogical end. These are IT products you are not making high end furniture. You need to refresh your product lines at a faster clip if nothing else to bring some excitement and energy to the brand. The MacBook is embarrassingly long in the tooth. And Apple doesn’t seem to be pushing the boundary of cutting edge hardware. The iphones have been surpassed in camera tech and battery life is below average. Wifi and lte connectivity are not the best either. And all the talk about being good at integrating hardware software and services... remains just talk. Apple is so far behind Google when it comes to software and services it’s not even a fair comparison. Maps is not as good as Google and Siri is just frustratingly dumb. iCloud/iTunes feel like last century... If not for the stability of iOS I really don’t know why anyone would choose an Apple phone.

Why does this guy get any mention on tech forums. I can easily point to a dozen commenters on this forum that I'd rather get opinions about what Apple will likely do in the near future.
So just leave already. Why are you still here? This is a site on Apple rumors and this is the guy who’s by far the most accurate analyst. I appreciate reading about his prognostication on Apple.

  • Actually, there is something new about Apple's upcoming iPhone 7

the notion that Apple is lazy and sitting around doing nothing is idiotic.

as for dramaticly changing the case design, repeat after me: Apple doesn't do change for change's sake. they won't redo the bezels just because. this hasn't bothered you with toasters, dvd players, laptops, or cars -- where annual releases look largely the same as last year's.

There are many Apple products that hasn't had much needed improvements for years. It's not change for changes sake, tech in those products have progressed and passed Apple by. Case in point, the AirPort Extreme. so can you explain to me what folks who work on those products do In those interim years? What about the MAC pro and Apple display? Are those product teams disbanded after they released the last product? Why can't they upgrade the products while they work on the next entirely new model? I mean either you're in or you're out. You can't call it a hobby (insulting) or whatever and leave the product lines languishing in the tech wasteland.

i won't complain if Apple call the next iphone 6se. Come to think of it maybe that's why we don't have a 4" iphone in iPhone 6 form factor. To me that gives Apple an out for sticking to the same form factor - they're just extending the current product. if the Rumours are correct, you can't deny the next iphone hasn't got much in terms of newness and therefore innovation. It's the same for other products I buy. It won't make sense to get a face lifted model of the same car with few improvements. If I do get the same make and model, it better look different and functionally improved from the one I have. Otherwise why bother?

So many words and still iphone 7 will be to iPhone 6s what iPhone 6s was to iPhone 6. Everything's improved but nothing will be really new and desirable.
It will be desirable enough to move 100s of millions of units, and oversell any other smartphone model by a wide margin. Also "nothing will be really new and desirable" compared to what? The grass is greener ho-hum offering on the Android side, or some BS unrealistic idea? The main people who have a beef with "everything's improved" is people who seek shiny distractions. Moving 170 million units -- and just failing to breaking Apple's previous record (which is also the overall record for every company selling smartphones ever)? Yeah, what a bad fate...

Don't be daft. The sale of iphone is not gonna drop to zero overnight. I won't switch to android because I'm too invested in apples ecosystem. But -16% is huge by any any measure. And you get there by being lazy. Two years is more than enough time to design a new form factor. Reduce the borders around the display. Anything. Good example being the 5se... adopting a design from generations ago, seriously? The sense I got from Apple is them thinking to themselves oh we feel so magnanimous about producing a cheaper phone. We are just gonna dive into the parts bin and cobble something together. We want you to know that you're using our cheap phone and we don't care to spend any effort to make it better. No other company would do this. Unless it's for some anniversary marketing gimmick.

Apple still produce some pretty decent products but I feel progress has slowed significantly. Even evolutionary ones that products like the AirPort Extreme, Apple TV lcd display or Mac pro would benefit from. Apple is Happy to cruise along on auto pilot and selling recycled garbage. I wonder what do the employees on those products do each and every year. And how hard is it to include one more port on the macbook? I get the design philosophy of stripping away all superfluous feature I really do. But this is buying your own bs in the most extremely and inconsiderate manner.

So many words and still iphone 7 will be to iPhone 6s what iPhone 6s was to iPhone 6. Everything's improved but nothing will be really new and desirable. And we all knew how iPhone 6s turned out. I have been using iPhone 6 Plus for two years and I should be upgrading but I'm not. I bet there will be many iPhone 6 users like me.
