  • Apple's iOS 11 installed on 59% of compatible devices, up 7% from November

I haven't updated from iOS 10 to 11 for one reason: I'm still using a few 32-bit apps. Some of those old apps are orphans, and will never be updated. I'm slowly finding substitutes and moving my essential data, but I won't update until that process is completed.

I suspect the the lag in adopting iOS 11 is in part due to many others still relying on old 32-bit apps.
Me too, but I've got an old iPad in good working order that I'm keeping just for those old apps. My concern has been more that iOS 11 has been a bit buggy and I'm waiting to ensure that iOS 11.2 is now a solid option.

  • The iPhone ecosystem needs strength training accessories - especially from Apple

Looks like we all forgot that GymKit is already a thing. It is in watchOS 4 and it allows users to wireless sync fitness data between cardio machines at a gym and their Apple Watches by tapping on an NFC pad attached to the machine.

  • First look: Apple Watch Series 3 and AirPower

I loved all of the announcements and can't wait to get my hands on it, although this FY is iPad replacement year, my phone and watch aren't due for a couple of years yet. At least the price will have dropped by then. (Any economists out there: Is iPhone now a Veblen good?) Anyway, my main point is that, nerds as we are, all of the comment is about the tech, no one commented on the emotion of Tim's opening of the theatre, the way all senior exec's got a spot (including Jony by carefully crafted video, as usual) and the beauty of the theatre itself. BTW, I'm really looking forward to GymKit rolling out in my gym, I'm going to look carefully for other AppleWatch and iPhone users and try to lobby for it.

Don't update. iPhone 7 went into a hang. Won't update.
Just because you have issues doesn't mean everyone else will. Your setup isn't the same as everyone else's.
Loren22 has made only two previous posts in two and a half years, both of them negative, so more likely s/he's trolling.

  • Apple sends top executives to lobby Australian government over proposed encryption laws

A court issued warrant for a law enforcemaent agency to obtain a transcript of a person's calls from the service provider does not require the government to have the key to the backdoor, but it does require the serice provider to have them and my understanding is that there is no backdoor in Apple's system (unless you have access to an unlocked handset), so I am not sure what they are trying to do.
