Apple targets Android switchers with two new iPhone ads
Who knows where Apple's target market is now? I have a 6. Wife has an X. Two girls have 8 and 8+. I hated giving the girls any phone at all because of addiction issues but all their friends have them and they were feeling left out, however I have some serious restrictions on usage including straight A's in school. At least now when a classmate says where is your phone they don't have to lie that they left it at home. They pull out their gold iPhones. When the boys ask for the number they just say "nope" not allowed. They'll never get an Android while I'm in charge. -
Lennar now integrating Amazon Alexa surveillance into new home construction
DAalseth said:Unless this were optional and I could have mine built WITHOUT Alexa crap, it would be a deal breaker for me. I will not live in a house with spyware installed by default. And to be honest, I don't care if it's Alexa, HomeKit, Google, or whomever. Just no. -

One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s hard to plan for the future. Nice hotels from the 90s all thought they were future proof with cat5/6 and RJ-45 for a future of fast internet, only to find out that today almost nobody even has an Ethernet port on the computer they’re holding.
I'm building a new house this year and I'm considering wiring it completely inside and out with Cat6A so I have the option of installing a wired mesh network which is thought to be more secure and faster than a wireless configuration.
A lot of planning needs to go into designing the electrical plan for a new home, especially if you want to accommodate future HomeKit applications such as window shades, etc. You will probably need AC and ethernet outlets in unusual locations. -
Samsung's Galaxy S9 phones inch out iPhone X for top Consumer Reports ranking
Fine, the new Samsung is better than iPhone on some minuscule level but Samsung has no ecosystem. No thanks. Whatever...I'm not a Samsung hater, I just like all my Apple gear.
I recently returned from an international business trip and Samsung advertising is everywhere, even outside on the tarmac so you can see it from your seat on the airplane. They have stores inside the airports as well. I saw a lot of people walking around with Samsung phones but nothing but iPhones in first class. -
iPhone unlocking tool GrayKey sees increased use across all levels of law enforcement
I'd rather have no password. I have nothing on my iPhone that is secret or even private. My various collection of women all have each other's contact info. A couple years ago I had a serious medical condition that was life threatening. Fortunately my attorney was able to access all my contacts while I was in the ER due to no password. Saved my life. I'd rather risk any privacy concerns over first responders not being able to access my info quickly.
