  • Bonus Notches: Android smartphone vendors copy the striking design from Apple's iPhone X, ...

The reason the "Fruit" phone notch is wider is because Facial ID needs two cameras with sufficient distance between them for accurate 3D recognition.

  • New Apple 'Switch to iPhone' ads promote support & environmental footprint

I too have a bit of push back on lack of a Home button. I also have a 6 but I recently bought an 8 for my wife. but I have to buy another one because the unopened box got stolen out of my checked luggage while returning from a business trip. I asked Apple if they could track it but they said no. Her birthday is coming up very soon but I'm waiting to see if the credit card company is going to reimburse me for the stolen device.

  • Apple confirms use of Google cloud services to store iCloud user data

I think the notion that some around here have that Google sells their personal information to third parties or that as soon as you do a Google search for a product, ads for that same or similar product immediately start showing up in your browser or mail, are probably both false.

I've used Google for mail, browsing and search for nearly a decade and have never seen any indication that they are misusing my data.

I have no problem with Apple using Google data centers. I know Steve said Android was basically a stolen product, but that is just the way business works. As soon as a competitor comes out with an innovation, everyone else follows suit. You can't depend on a patent to protect much of anything these days because there are a thousand ways to skin a cat.

Couldn't be any worse than the idiots that are already on the road here in LA.

  • Video: Apple HomePod vs. Google Home Max

When I get home, have Siri open the garage again and drive on up into the garage.
All works great so long as you are in range of your home WiFi, however with HomePod (or AppleTV) you could say "Hey Siri" turn on the AC, just as you are leaving your work/office. That way it would be cool at home when you arrive. There could be other scenarios that could make use of remote commands depending on what other HomeKit devices you might have.
