Perhaps, but if you already have a factory multimedia unit, replacing it removes functionality like rear camera and car sensor readings. A car with poor audio is usually due to a speaker issue not a head unit issue.

Makes sense now why the rear facing lenses are repositioned vertically so the depth of the front and rear cameras are not in conflict.

Hackintosh is not a viable replacement for a Mac. They are buggy, subject to crashes and often cannot be updated when a new OS is released. They are strictly for computer hobbyists. Another option could be to pick up an older Mac Pro cheap and trick it out. That's what I recently did. I already had the Mac Pro, but altogether I think I spent around $650 additional for new SSD, new Xeons, new 32 GB ram, USB 3, new Nvidia graphics card. Everything is upgradeable on that model.

A computer that is worthless to you may perfectly fine for someone else so they shouldn't be going into the landfill just because it doesn't suit your needs. 

Computers should never go to a landfill. At least here in California, it is illegal. There are companies that specialize in electronics recycling.
