  • Apple's Face ID-equipped iPad Pros likely ready for production, shipping late next quarter...

    I'd like to see:
    1. KB case with trackpad
    2. Display cursor
    3. Rear-facing TrueDepth cameras -- capable of creating a 3D point cloud of a large area
Touchpad like functions in a keyboard surface would be nice. Cursor is already present in apps that require it. Doubt we’d ever see it extended beyond this, nor would we need it to be with better tech in the horizontal surface. Rear facing TrueDepth would require a completely different type of sensors. I don’t think Apple is there yet. Regardless iPad is again moving in the right direction. The last update with OS and 10.5 inch ver was a nice step.

  • Dish's Sling TV tops internet TV providers with 2.21M subscribers

We’ve gone back and forth between Sling and Direct TV Now. The latter IMO has a better interface, but we’ve found the quality of transmission to be spotty. For example the NBA All Star game the other night was so pixelated, it was near impossible to watch. We don’t watch a lot of network tv, so when we do tune in, and get lowered than SD quality, it’s pretty frustrating. We did a quick free trial with Sling, and watched the game there. Picture quality was miles better. The Apple TV 4 deal through Direct TV is it’s best feature.
This will sound stupid, but if you haven’t already double check that your stream is set to “best” or whatever DTV calls it. If remember correctly the lower quality setting is the default.
Not at all. I wasn’t aware of this feature. I’ll take a look. Much appreciated

  • Samsung to more than halve OLED production due to slow iPhone X demand, Nikkei says

Come on. Analysts and tracking firm Canalys post Q1 reported better than estimate iPhone X sales for the quarter at 29M units. TC even referenced the latter when discussing X performance. And you an article suggesting that estimates were in the 40-50 M range? On what planet?

  • Exhaustive acoustical analysis demonstrates HomePod is '100 percent an audiophile-grade sp...

I have used HomePod in my office and at home. The audio at all levels is very impressive. I would concur that this unit produces great sound. Only issue I have found is in a party setting. I had 20 people over Saturday night (yes it was a good time) and HomePod had trouble listening to commands with all the ambient noise...I hope they can somehow figure this out...I just simply switched to iPhone control of the music and was fine. In a quite setting it works great.
Thats interesting because I was at the Apple Store playing with one this weekend and it was working perfectly fine with Siri commands, even with the music playing fairly loud and also with all of the other noises and voices you hear in an Apple Store. I was actually amazed at how it could continuously pickup Hey Siri with all of the surrounding noise.
I found similar at the Apple store. My wife and a friend tried giving commands, which didn’t register, whereas it worked fine for me. They both have accents. From my own use at home, pleasantly surprised as to how good voice detection has been, even across the house with music at moderate volume. Good enough where we’re now upgrading our living and bedroom with smart lights. It’s good enough that even one HomePod in the living is feasible.

  • HomePod review: Your mileage may vary, but crank it up for the ride

Just an FYI: "potty-o" is actually more correct for pronunciation of "patio" than "patty-o" due to it being a Spanish word.
Your friends when discussing you with other friends refer to you as “that guy who says potty-o”
