Nice theory. It couldn't possibly be the fact that 15-20 million phones are in waiting in China, made from parts from several hundred suppliers, produced weeks/months advance, by tens of thousands of hands in the supply chain. It's got to be Apple because the actual device (nearly 1 billion sold) is obviously an embarrassment. Call me skeptical. Despite all the advances with glass, I still find scratches on my iPhone screen, usually within weeks of ownership - and I usually avoid keeping it in a pocket with anything in it. Do I wish my Apple Watch screen had better transparency, less reflectance? Sure, but not at the expense of scratch resistance. My watch screen is still as good as the day I bought it.
