  • Thai man punches saleswoman over iPhone X Face ID dispute

What just stuns me are the reactions of the people around her.  Here's some cowardly guy that sucker-punches a woman right in the face, and everyone around her just stands straight up like a flagpole and do nothing.

People should have grabbed that man-child by the throat and have him kiss concrete.  I'm hoping someone did that after the video cut-off.
As much as I agree in principle, just how do you practically/anatomically make someone kiss the ground if you’re grabbing them by the throat?
     :p
There is also another reason why it is not generally a good idea to get involved in other peoples disputes... In the west we sort of have the concept of a fair fight, in the east, it is more based on the concept of a bundle of arrows are stronger than a single arrow.  If you are not aware and intervene, the coming to a rescue can quickly escalate to the point where it is you against a group - which again is a very dangerous situation because of the lack of control when angry.  As such people that might have been courageous in the west may grow to be much more cautious here (if you are smart).

Why did the man do this? Disgusting.

IMHO, It is part of the culture of face and the inability to express oneself -- it can lead to some pretty explosive situations very quickly.  Foreigners can quickly learn how dangerous it can be very quickly if they cause someone to lose face in public.  I have seen drunk foreigners that have treated normal girls as if they are bar girls in public while they are with their boyfriend and a group and in very short order they end up in the hospital fighting for their life.  It does not blow often, but when it does... watch out.

Apple current has NO brick and mortar stores in Thailand.  They started hiring for the Iconsiam which might open at the end of the year... but there are no Apple Stores you can walk into (there is online ordering available).

This man should be arrested and dealt with ...

iStudio/Studio 7 etc. here just are not the same when it comes to customer service as Apple Store (probably part of the reason is the concept of face and loss there of).  I have told people that when the Apple Store in IconSiam opens they should shop there if they are going to buy Apple products and avoid the iStudios etc.

  • New 'professional' Mac mini, low-cost MacBook refresh coming soon says report

The function that the current Mac Mini was originally strategically slotted for is really no more
Do we have stats for that?
The switchers (especially developers) have typically settled on MacBook Pro or iMac (not the very low end)
What about people who don’t want to pay a thousand dollars and/or already have the rest of their hardware ecosystem?
there is still a fairly solid market within the professional community for small machines that serve specific roles that a laptop does not fill
Servers, since the death of the Xserve.
Apple has hired many of these professionals to act as proxies for their respective communities and has been taking a fairly active role in laying the groundwork to try to fix their neglect with respect to the professional market.
I’d love that to be true. If only there was…
Stats are not widely available but from personal observation (and being a switcher/developer) myself.  I have known many switchers but of all the people that I know that are not technical/developers -- not one went with the Mac Mini as their computer.  They walked into the store and walked out with iMacs and laptops... The people that bought Mac Minis - were all technical/development and many were not using it as their "switcher machine".  I bought 3 2009 Mac Minis -- all for specific purposes -- but that was after a laptop in 2007 (the first Mac I owned), and a Mac Pro in 2008 (never an iMac - but more laptops after that).   I am not sure if I will go with a Mac Pro (modular) or 'pro' Mac Mini... I am going through a complete refresh this year / early next - including 3 computers - one being a fairly powerful Linux machine, either a Mac Mini / Mac Pro and one of the MacBook Pros.

Yes, the Mac Mini has a relatively high usage as servers or specific tasks (in isolation) - more technical.
