  • ACLU sues for information about FBI iPhone unlocking capabilities

For prior first hand knowledge, what the ACLU is asking for is usually deemed investigation technique. By law investigative techniques are not subject to discovery although the information obtained from using techniques are discoverable and must be share with all parties directly involved subject to a courts protective orders.

There should be a law preventing giant behemoth monopolies from combining resources and working together against antitrust lawsuits. Just seems like logic and common sense considering that some of these companies and bigger and more powerful than many entire countries.
There is a law on the books! It’s call the Sherman Act and was signed into law by Theodore Roosevelt aka “Teddy Bear”. If what this article says is true and there are actual written documents communication between the companies  to use in a court of law as evidence, both Facebook and Google can kiss their duopoly online ads days goodbye! Hell with the above stated evidence even a first day law student could use this evidence to prove a violation of Sherman’s Anti-Trust Prohibitions!

The Sherman Act does not prohibit companies from working to defend lawsuits or criminal constitution. Such a law would be plainly unconstitutional (at least it was when I was a first year law student).  Moreover, it's not as uncommon as the article implies.

If the Sherman Act did prohibit such an arrangement (it doesn't) the government would have alleged so in the complaint (it didn't).

The likely reason the arrangement was mentioned in the complaint was to establish that FaceBook was aware that the conduct constituted an illegal use of monopoly power, and to rebut the argument that the government can't go back on its approval of the merger with Instagram and WhatsApp.
“The most common violations of the Sherman Act and the violations most likely to be prosecuted criminally are price fixing, bid rigging, and market allocation among competitors (commonly described as “horizontal agreements”).  - U.S. Department of Justice Archives..

Workers not being paid on time - or at all - is not a "mistake".  Whether it be the VP taking the fall, there were people up the ladder that did this and should be jailed.  It sounds like there were little to no consequence to those corrupt folks in management.

Apple should look elsewhere.  I wouldn't trust Wistron to do the right thing.
This is just typical everyday UPPER-CASTE bullsh*t. They never not respect the humanity and dignity of anyone consider lower than them. This crap has been playing out in India for eons.

Both Apple and Winstron should have known the abusive nature of the ingrained caste system that dominates the daily lives of India people. Knowing this, they should have made plans and put checks/balances in place to prevent this dehumanizing abuse and flat out wage theft that will always incite a violent response just out of frustration.

While I can’t condone the destruction of anyone’s property, stealing some one’s hard earned wages especially during a world wide pandemic is just plain mean and utterly despicable!
Don't comment nonsense about a country without knowing da*n sh*t about it. This has nothing to do with Caste, either upper or lower. In fact over 50% of those workers would have been upper caste themselves. This is a simple worker-management problem caused by the fact that 90% of the employees at wistron are contract workers employed through employment agencies, and not permanent employees. Stop this propaganda bullsh*t that you are indulging in.
Maybe the real issue is that you should not think that you and only you know all there is to know about India or about me! By the way you and another in this thread have responded,  I can presume (maybe wrongly but I doubt it) someone is sensitive to the subject of CASTE and thinks it okay condone STEALING from others than are so-called lessers humans beings because of their birth.

The only propaganda that is being spread here is your presumptions about me and the terrible explanation about the situation at the plant that was allowed to manifest which lead to a violent outburst and destruction of property. Although I can understand the anger and outburst, I can not condone it at all. This destruction no matter the cause will only lead to unemployment temporarily while the plant is being repaired and permanently if the plant is abandoned by Winston. Either way, it is only going to cause more economic suffering during a Pandemic.

Finally, you need to face the facts and stop making excuses for thieves who disregard Basic Rights and Respect due to all regard of their birth or station in life. Yeah WAGE  THEFT is basically thievery on the lowest level possible! With the exception of the last paragraph lets agreed to disagree on the above.
