  • Decade-old Apple Car project may be completely dead

Remember many years ago in the early 2000's there was a rumor Apple was developing their own "TV"? It turned out to be the "iTV" (now Apple TV) and never an actual TV. This is the same scenario but with a car.

I know, I know Apple developed an actual TV in the early 90's called Macintosh TV but IMO the Apple TV was the better/smarter direction.

    Just continue developing CarPlay...

  • 'Apple Car' team dissolved & 2025 launch may be in doubt says Ming-Chi Kuo

Prior to September 2006, it was always a "rumor" that Apple was developing their own physical TV. When they announced it that September as "iTV", it wasn't an actual TV with a tuner but a box for streaming movies and tv shows. It was a great new way to watch movies/shows. The only thing was you had to download anything you wanted to watch, which took FOREVER!

IMO, I feel the "Apple Car" might be developed the same way. Do I hope Apple would develop a physical car? Sure thing. But would I be happy with them developing the tech for existing and future cars? most definitely.

  • Siri on Ecobee SmartThermostat review: Apple's smart assistant invades your home

If you have Nest devices in your house that you'd like to make compatible with HomeKit, check out the Starling Home Hub. I just purchased one 2 weeks ago, and it's working great. I use it to make my Nest Protect smoke detectors HomeKit compatible.
I don't have any Nest products but have a few devices I would like to add to HomeKit (Ring, etc). I've been looking at using the Hoobs (hoobs.com), but this Starling Home Hub looks a bit simpler to set up/use. I see it's only for Nest Products though.

Has anyone here used the Hoobs device before? Secure, etc?

  • Apple axes Wi-Fi router division, apparently signaling the end of AirPort

For the past year I've hesitate from upgrading my 5th Generation AE in hope of a refresh....That dream is now crushed. But the more I think about it, maybe the joined forces of Apple TV + AE teams might be a good thing? Maybe the Apple TV will eventually be the HUB that has been rumored before - including wifi?

I always thought that Apple was building up the "wireless" + "cloud" thing for a few years so everything/everyone will need internet --- then they would launch their own internet service...
