DOJ seeks to delay Apple encryption hearing, says it may be able to unlock iPhone after all [u]

Government says Apple arguments in encryption case a 'diversion,' presents point-by-point rebuttal
This whole matter is disgusting. I don't believe, for a second, that this is about 1 phone. What's unnerving is how this case is so transparent it makes you wonder what is going on behind the scenes and the bigger picture. Digital security is a conversation, perhaps, that needed to happen but this very public and malicious display is ridiculous already. Apple, as the largest taxpayer, should tell the Gov. to suck it.
The Gov. is biting the hand that feeds it. -

Apple predicted to increase quarterly dividend up to 10%, share buybacks up to $50B
I wonder what their internal goal is for the buyback? Also with the dividend they could certainly afford to really push it higher but then that sets a bad "precedent". If the buyback is closer to the end than the case can be made for moving towards a really nice dividend in the next few years. I'm confident that they will do the best thing as the CR program evolves. -
Building unlock tool for FBI could create dangerous international precedent, says Apple lawyer
Just saw Michael Chertoff on CNBC and he is siding with Apple and making some good arguments as to why. Bad guys will get encryption elsewhere and all you have is everyone else less secure. He also mentioned that these people destroyed other phones and he just left that sit there with them. Bill and Kelly were really trying hard to take the opposite side and I have to say that Bill is a total douche. I don't know why they still keep him around.
Glad to hear that the NY ruling came down on Apple's side.
