  • Entire iPhone 15 lineup's camera specs detailed in last-minute leak

I must confess I am a total noob when it comes to lenses and other photography terminology. Skill level is at "ooh shiny" level.

These alleged camera bumps may or may not happen as described. Apple has had a strong track record of putting things in place that later enables breakthrough innovations to ramp and scale quickly.

So I am thinking that this iPhone generation will likely have camera tech that will enable content generation that will be best consumed on the vision pro in the near future. It takes time to bootstrap a new form factor and having a year or two of creatives learning and demystifying the process makes sense.

The iPhone feels like the ideal 3D photo and 3D video capture platfiorm to scale this quickly. If done right then maybe Apple has a 3D YouTube on its hands which could divert some serious ad cash from Alphabet and TikTok.

  • Apple launched AirPods eight years ago, and changed the world again

Personally for me the AirPods and later AirPods Pro were a game changer. Untethering from the phone or Mac has moved the simple headphone to become a candidate to an evolving iCloud connected platform.

By embedding battery and compute inside the headphone Apple has set the stage given themselves optionality on how they want to evolve this part of the ecosystem.
AirPods to include eHealth features? No problem, can be done. Ever improving spatial audio functionality and body positioning measurements? No problem.

They can take this emerging platform in some many directions and people who were focused on the narrow historic use case of consuming audio kind of missed the cruise liner sized addressable market of customer needs possible to address.

Battery + Compute inside more peripherals and dumb gadgets increases the value of your eco system.

Now what if Apple manages to embed Siri offline processing in the Apple Watch and AirPods? I am sensing AirPods will be my future gateway into Apple Watch which will retire my iPhone from being in my pocket to being in my backpack beside my MacBook and iPad Pro.

  • Wedbush says it's 'when not if' Apple will buy ESPN

I may be commenting using bad knowledge.

ESPN is a channel that doesn’t own any sports league or teams itself.

it likely has a small portfolio of broadcasting rights arrangements primarily cantered on the US.

Why would anyone acquire such an entity instead of just outbidding the exclusives they have whenever they come up for renewal?

In football there are developments where the sports teams themselves go into broadcasting with Real Madrid TV being a great example serving a global audience. There is an app for that and Apple can just sell a season pass and be the go to market aggregator.

No need to buy ESPN. Waste of cash

  • Three iPhone 15 models rumored to get Thunderbolt/USB4 connector

Would TB ports on iPhones also enable it to drive large screens?

May be helpful in scenarios where airplay is not an option or desirable.

personally I am happy about a convergence on usb c as it will greatly simplify charger/connectors etc

  • Microsoft dumps Cortana leaving Siri as one of the last smart assistants

OpenAI got the mindshare initially for ChatGPT but have lately been deteriorating in quality. Google’s Bard is heads and shoulders better, but likely would not have been public yet if OpenAI and the stock market did not force Google’s hand.

Siri is a green screen voice CLI today compared the LLM driven services like Bard. I would love to see a beta track with Siri where an experimental and fail fast playground is available for pushing these technologies into Siri. I get that Apple wants things to “just work” before making it mainstream to all.

Tech like AutoGPT with an increasing amount of “autonomous” automation powered by LLMs would be amazing to link to Siri.

Amazon is blinking with Alexa cuts, MS is leaving the battlefield with Cortana.. Google is still there and is a very potent force. Apple has the opportunity to make a dent in the universe now. In my view it is tied into a major backend upgrade and also a push into making more iCloud connected devices first class citizens with Siri as a first class citizen interface.
