  • First Google Store takes an opposite approach from Apple retail

LOL hair-splitting minor aesthetic details is not "the opposite"

  • Disney not considering cheaper, ad-supported Disney+ tier

I'm old enough to remember when the value proposition to cable TV included no advertising. I'm glad I at least have the option of paying to go ad free when suscribing to content though. However, using Apple News as an example, this option is no guarantee. There's a free, limited content tier. Pay for access to more content, but it still has some ads. PLUS constant upselling to the full version of individual publishers. There is endless upselling and ad creep. Its a mess and annoying so I just limit subscriptions to a small handful. I don't even want to see previews/promos of other content when watching someting I paid for.

  • Secret party app Vybe Together says App Store ban was 'political'

This is the playbook: take an extreme politcai position then throw a tantum claiming the reaction is political. Yawn. Nealry every level of government from democratic mayors to republican governors, two presidents and non-partisan organizations put rules in place regarding masks, distancing and capacity. I wont waste another second thinking about this.

Why are we penalizing or casting shade on a  company making money ? And protecting people privacy and doing things right way?

are we in a communist or socialist country? I mean, I don’t like the previous   president but if we not careful, we will make him right on USA turning socialist!
What are you going on about. No one is casting shade. Its a success story. Everyone is happy.

  • HBO Max ditches tvOS API for homegrown solution, chaos ensues

Sigh. Apple needs to FORCE content providers to use their tech standards so all apps work the same. Make the 'walled garden' work in our favor. Our discounted rate just ended. Goodbye HBO Max.
Actually this is a fantastic case study that illustrates 2 things: First, content providers arent forced to do anything. No one can complain of Apple overreach. Second, when developers decide to go their own way, THEY will be accuswed of overreach and embarassed by how the market and press react. Its perfect for Apple.
