  • Rumor: M4 MacBook Pro with AI enhancements expected at the end of 2024

I don't have any use for AI and hope its presence as a feature doesn't infect everything the way "content" has infected maps and "smart features" has infected photos. I want my apps and OS minimal, functional and linear and I want my privacy maximized. But hey that's just me.

  • Apple offers Austin relocation to 121 San Diego employees in office closure

Sad to say I fell for the Austin hype and relocated there briefly two years ago. Worst year of my life in a tiny overpriced apartment. Everyone I met either a) just got there too or b) was holding on to their long paid-off houses for dear life or c) on their way out to Dallas and beyond. Anything great about Austin (people, local business, neighborhoods) is gone or is quickly disappearing. The simple charm of a craftsman home in a desirable tree lined neighborhood is way out of reach for most people and even then, not worth the price. I had electric and internet outages more often in that one year than my entire lifetime in various other states (both red and blue). Looking back I was caught up in the hype of podcasters and billionaires, but the day-to-day reality I found was B-list tech jobs in a red state with $30 sandwiches and $200 gyms.

  • Adobe's Figma buy isn't going to happen, and will cost Adobe $1 billion

Remember when UX was the hot new job for about ten months. Those jobs dried up and the UX designers who have jobs, hate them. A quick search shows adobe job postings containing "UX" are all based out of India. This was the weirdest, shortest tech trend I've ever witnessed and Adobe got caught up in the hype. Good thing they can pull out for 1 billion instead of 20

  • US Apple Watch sales and import ban: What you need to know

I know this wont happen but I dream that This is Apple’s chance to drop the watch altogether and exit that market. It is by far the worst Apple product ever. I’m embarrassed for Apple. I’ve tried and given up on several models, most recently the Ultra 1. Obnoxious phone/watch integration and by the time I turn off 1001 unwanted naggy intrusive “features” there’s little value for the price. Excuse me while I search Apple support forums to figure out how to disable this screeching beeping crisis alarm signal because I bent my wrist too far at the gym. The Apple Watch “experience” is trash. Unpopular opinion but surely I’m not alone.

  • Goldman Sachs regrets Apple Card, and is trying to escape the deal

Maybe I'd use it more or even carry a balance - then they'd make some money - but at 27% interest with excellent credit, no thanks.
