  • Apple's Touch ID is probably never coming back to iPhone

With touchID my phone is unlocked BEFORE I look at it and with FaceID my phone is unlocked AFTER I look at it. I prefer the touchID experience but its not that important in the grand scheme. If they bring it back cool. If they don't whatever.

  • Apple promises changes in Final Cut Pro after video editor complaints

I'm going to go out on a limb and say pro apps are a hedge against developers (like avid) dropping or neglecting mac support and that informs decisions and the level of committment. For example Aperture vs Adobe. Logic vs Ableton. and even Pages, Numbers, etc and Microsoft Office. Apple apps will probably always be one stop behind to strategically balance competitive needs with the potential to undercut developers. After choosing Aperture over Adone Lightroom and watching Aperture die a long slow death, I don't see myself using Apple native apps for pro needs, ever again.

  • 'iPhone 16 Pro' could be the first iPhone to completely ditch the notch, says Kuo

I do not care that a shrinking bit of screen turned into a notch that might turn into a hole that might dissapear over the coruse of 5 years or whatever. I do care howevcer that iOS and mainstream apps are less of a buggy glitchy UX kludge on that pure uninterrupted screen. Gapless playback in Apple Music? Doesnt work (again). Amazon? Freezes everything for a second here and there when running. eBay? Crashes regularly. WIFI turned off? Assumes I want it to turn back on and does so without me. Notifications turned off? Apps try to get me to turn them back on. Photos? Green reflection artifacts in almost every photo on the 12 Pro Max that I never saw on any ohter iPhone. And on and on.

  • New York Apple retail union organizers are asking for $30 an hour

I make between $35 and $55 per hour depending on differentials and overtime and whatnot. And I work 50-60 hours per week. Seems like a lot, right? I should be loaded. I make double the median US household income. So I kept asking myself why I'm not rich and live a fairly modest lifestyle in a cheap apartment.

So I made a spreadsheet and here is what I found out. In order to buy a home at the median US price of $350k and fully fund a 401k account annually (19.5k), someone needs to make about $60 an hour and live in a state with no income tax in order to have money left over for a student loan payment and car note. Now imagine trying to do that in NYC.

Whatever you think of unions or retail workers or minimum wage or living wage, or free markets - anything less than $60 an hour falls short of The Median American Dream. It means small homes in less desireable areas, renting, roomates etc. It means deciding not to have kids. It means not being able to afford that $20 burrito chips and a drink at Chipotle. It means charging a $250 emergency room copay on a credit card and pyaing 29% interest. People can feel that. I can empathize with anyone thinking they deservce more. Especially living in NYC in an architectural dream for the worlds richest corporation. But I think their efforts are better spent getting a job as a barber or licensed electrician or going back to school to work in a field with a starting salary of $120k.

  • Apple, Netflix bail out of bidding war for Will Smith biopic amid controversy

Dr. Dre threw a woman down a flight of stairs in public and then joked about it and Tim Cook loves him.
Dre's biopic was pulled. Dre was managed out of Apple.
