  • Foxconn may transfer Chinese engineers to Wisconsin LCD plant due to difficult labor marke...

Now *this* is the funniest way to start Election Day: first it was 13,000 jobs and that got revised to 3,000 "knowledge-based workers" and now even *that* looks imperiled.

And all at a hefty cost to Wisconsin voters. For those of you old enough (which means, no one), this will play out like a reboot of "Gung Ho," only the Chinese version.
Good. They will work here and PAY TAXES HERE. Something tells me they will get paid (( SLIGHTLY )) more than just 20-30k a year, which means they will be in the group who actually pays 97% of all income taxes, unlike the bottom 50% of taxpayers who only pay only 3% of all income tax paid by all who work in the US. This seems like a win to me, if that happens.

But, how could that happen that America is not able to find engineeres here? Might have to do something with the public education that costs a lot, and produces a near nill at the end in terms of the most important professions in the 21 century. This has to change.

Or, it also miht have to do with unions that killed the competition and produced mediocre engineers at the very high cost, which led the companies to seek engineers out in other markets.

  • Apple, Samsung beaten to foldable phone by clunky Royole FlexPai

    But is it any good?
How many open/closes will it be guaranteed for (before the material in the flexible bit work hardens)?

We shall have to wait and see.
Of course, it is good. It has (in the folded state) the whole edge that, when being dinged/damaged automagically destroys the center of the screen! 👹

The presenter seems to be uncomfortable on stage. She sounds canned like she is reading from a teleprompter. I don't see the unbridled enthusiasm that Jobs projected. But to be honest, there was only one Steve Jobs and he’s gone now.
Stop. She's nervous, not bored. Public speaking is a skill, and skills have to practiced (I'd wager you'd suck at it in her shoes). Apple speakers are always their real team members. Craig was nervous and forced when he began as well, but is now one of their better public speakers.
When a person is nervous, there can be no "please stop cut her/him some slack". A person is either comfortable and that helps sell the product. Or, you have to get another person who can do that. What is the point of even presenting it like that, then? This is supposed to be a high skill level presentation, not some highshool project level presentation.

  • Apple Watch reportedly assembled by illegal high school labor, Apple investigating

Previlaged folks in the west whining about factory conditions in China ,is my comedy for the day!
True. Some of them are so idiotic, they would take away that low income from those kids, so those kids could starve to death. But, it sure feels good when they can stop child labor from happening...at the expense of those kids. smh.

How come the parents didn't say anything about the school slaving their kids out to the local factory? Was it an orphanage?
Are you kidding me? Parents probably were the ones hoping their kids would get employed, so there is a bit more income for the family.
