  • Deputy AG Rosenstein says companies like Apple are trying to 'defeat legitimate law enforc...

"we cannot accept a culture in which technology companies considers it part of their responsibility to defeat legitimate law enforcement"
Rosenstein lying again. Apple is not trying to defeat law enforcement, but rather is trying to protect client's info via means of encryption.
The fact that it will make law enforcement harder is secondary, just like walls and locks in doors makes it harder for the law enforcement to enforce the law.
By that same logic, he would need to advocate the removal of those as well, or at least its regulation. The reality is - Rosenstein is a person who rubber-stamped FISA court order on illegal wire-tapping of the presidential candidate without using any facts to back up that FISA warrant. Rosenstein is the enemy of privacy, clearly, as he cared very little about violating the concept of individual freedoms (especially when a person is innocent). Of course, knowing that, it is no surprise that he is advocating for the "regulation" of the technology that would prevent people like him from collecting any info they want. He does not care at all that by "regulating" it, the encryption will be maid weaker and the keys will be made available to the bad players in no time.. Very dangerous person, but sadly not that many average voters care about that.

  • Apple sued over FaceTime, auto-expiring voice Messages technology

Unsurprisingly, the gov entertains the existence of these false entities wasting time and energy in a pay to play judicial system. How about restricting patent trolling to only those entities (and respective subsidiaries) that actually have a successful product which they can whine about?
Then, if a person wants to come up with an idea, he wont be able to get it patented due to a rule you have just proposed, and assumg he had no money for setting up the production.
You can’t patent “ideas”. An invention may start with an idea but needs to be described sufficiently that someone skilled in computer science could implement it. It’s also supposed to be novel - but that seems sadly lacking most of the time. However, evn616 was talking about patent enforcement not acquisition and the idea has a lot of merit and has been widely debated.
lol. You clearly can judging by the text of some very vague patents. Sending voice over internet is an idea. It is NOT an implementation. Using A compression is an idea. Using a server to send voice data over IS an idea. None of those words would make a workable system that you could use if you read one of those patents.

  • Apple axed Tumblr from App Store because of failed child pornography filters

well, they should definitely pull the google app then. and safari. oh, and Firefox and definitely Edge. If you're gonna take it upon yourself to "police" the app store, then be consistent all around.
Nah, they won't. They have to parallel sets of rules that get applied depending on whose app it is. Apple never claimed they would be fair in what rules they are gonna enforce and when. I wonder, if it is going to scare away a good portion of the developers, as it is becoming too much of a risk to be developing for iKing.

Doesn't sound lazy-arse to produce moe results to me.  Sounds like a sensible strategy.
It is a dishonest strategy. if in order to get the results, you need to bash not those who are lacking or behind, but rather those who are leading the way, I would say you are being lazy and dishonest in what you do and in what your TRUE motivations are. It is like claiming you are trying to improve the average class's grade by bashing A students for not doing enough, while leaving out of the equation all the B and C (and especially D) students. I can't call that - a sensible strategy, but rather a showing off strategy (virtue signaling for the environmentalists). It is especially true, if you look at the grade distribution curves. Apple produces a lot less pollution and its production is more safe, than the production methods of other companies. Problem is - other companies will tell you to f*ck off, if you were to demand anything from them. Since you have real power, you will have to do exactly that, lol. So, you see, working with those companies will require a lot more brain and persistence. Apple, on the other hand, cares to project the image of a sensible hippie company (despite being a huge corporation), and hence they HAVE to listen to those demands. But again, I think abusing the situation like that, might lead to the wrong results (often happens to those who understand little, but scream a lot).
