Nintendo's 'Super Mario Run' for iPhone requires a persistent internet connection for play
Hi, foot. Look at this great new gun I made!
Oh …
The antipiracy thing seems utterly bogus on iOS. Can anyone convince me Apps are getting pirated today? Last I heard of it was with iOS 8, and even then the proportion of jailbroken iPhones that could run them was trivial.
Android's another story, of course. -
US government requested information on nearly 5,200 Apple accounts in past 6 months
@UnitedWorx: As this number is in the table relating primarily to lost or stolen devices, I'd guess that standard police procedure in at least some Germany states is to request activation information from Apple whenever an iPhone is reported missing — and that this is not true of many countries. Interestingly, tiny, rich next-door Luxembourg, with a population of only 500,000 or so against Germany's 80 million, has a yet higher rate of requests per head. Maybe iPhones are easier for the light-fingered to find there. Or the population's more forgetful. -
Imagination Technologies says cost & job cuts linked to slower iPhone sales
… hoping to stem a downturn it linked partly to slowing iPhone shipments.
Citation needed. There's nothing of this in Imagination Technologies' press release, which does however say that In the current financial year, both royalty and licensing revenues continue to be in line with the Board’s expectations. While this might just mean that they had expected income from Apple to decrease due to falling iPhone shipments, so it's no surprise if they have, it's just as likely to mean that they did not express a decrease, and that there has been no decrease.
