  • 'Store' no more in rebranding of Apple retail outlets

    domain
    noun
an area of territory owned or controlled by a ruler or government: the southwestern French domains of the Plantagenets.
    • a specified sphere of activity or knowledge: the expanding domain of psychology | figurative : visual communication is the domain of the graphic designer.
Physics a discrete region of magnetism in ferromagnetic material.
Computing a distinct subset of the Internet with addresses sharing a common suffix or under the control of a particular organization or individual.
Mathematics the set of possible values of the independent variable or variables of a function.

    store |stôr|
    noun
1 chiefly N. Amer. a retail establishment selling items to the public: a health-food store.

Changing the name from Apple Store to Apple Domain is just plain silly.  The Apple Store is a building with products for sale.    It is not even close to being considered a ‘domain’.  No one will ever say, “I am going to the Apple Domain”.  No one will have any idea what you are talking about.  It is a STORE.  People will continue to say, “I am going to the Apple Store”.  They’ll know exactly where you are going…to a retail establishment to buy a product, not the main headquarters in Cupertino.  It is as dumb as Mac OS and macOS.  During the keynote, they acted like macOS was something no one had ever heard before.  They will always be called 'Apple Stores'….because they are retail establishments selling product.  Apple Domain is like a fool that goes to Starbucks to use their laptop, or referencing the actual Apple website domain of apple.com.

  • BMW begins Apple CarPlay support with paid upgrades to 2 Series

CarPlay is very useful. I have been using it for the last month. Just the fact that now I never have my phone in my hands is a huge plus. Something that I used to do since version 1.
It's called Bluetooth and Siri.  I never have to hold my phone either, and I don't have to plug it in to use all the Bluetooth features, or Siri.

  • Update fixes 'Pokemon Go' Google account permissions issue

what I do not understand is everyone knows Google is collecting everything they can about their users and people are perfectly fine with giving up their personal privacy for a free email account and they are upset a game maybe also looking at their stuff. Really, if you do not want people looking at your stuff stop using a google account.

I highly doubt I will even play this game, but can you use the game without having an Google account, can you just create a user account for the game.

You don't understand the problem.  The EULA gave the developer full READ and WRITE access to user's email, documents, etc., everything related to Google.  They can access your account, read, write, and delete emails and documents.  Even Google does not do that to their own users.  By entering your name and password, you granted the developer full access to your account.  Google does not have that type of access.  Most people don't know to create a dummy Google account, and millions have played the game signing in with their Google account.  So the damage is already done.  Anyone using a public forum has given up some level of privacy.  So what you should really say is that people should stop using the Internet completely if they do not want some level of their information out there.

  • Honda launches 2017 Accord with Apple CarPlay option

Wonder if they update previous models? Just bought a topic the line 2016 Odyssey and was disappointed there was no CarPlay. Wish I could add it through a firmware update.
Honda does not do that.  They would prefer you to buy another car instead.  Honda is so slow, maybe the 2018 Odyssey might finally get CarPlay.  CarPlay is so far behind when everyone has already been able to use Bluetooth and Siri for years in their current vehicles, and not be required to plug the phone in to make it work.  Honda's stereos are so awful anyway, you are better off with an aftermarket system that has CarPlay built-in, if you really want it.  People are reporting on the Honda Facebook page that the new 2016 Civic with CarPlay has tons of problems with the DisplayAudio stereo.  Non-responsive, display blacking out, horrible audio quality over Bluetooth, etc.  All Honda can say is "we don't know what the problem is, sorry".
