  • Pitaka MagEZ Pro Case review: Wireless iPad charging at a steep price

    JP234 said:
Some folks will buy anything, whether they need it or not. There is zero utility in a wireless iPad charger. Why would you pay $200 for a case that will sit on a magsafe charger, that is plugged into a USB cable? Just plug the USB cable into the iPad and put the $200 you didn't spend against your credit card balance, or your student loan, or your car payment, or your rent, or your mortgage or your utility bills, or your ISP or your streaming services? Or if you don't have bills to pay, then invest it. Or give it to St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
I strongly disagree that there is zero utility in a wireless iPad charger. The utility would be equal to the utility of a wireless iPhone charger. I have a wireless iPhone charger and I wouldn't want to live without it. I do feel that plugging in my iPad is a little less convenient and I would absolutely use a MagSafe charger for my iPad if it were available. I won't be buying this charger/case though, because it's outrageously expensive.

It is probably about time Apple accepted a tad lower margin in order to produce in countries that aren’t fascist.
They are not Fascist, they are Communist. Fascism is Right-Wing and Communism is Left Wing. The two are polar opposites.

Why? from a security standpoint. :)
I don’t believe there is a reason not to from a security standpoint. I don’t think it’s unsafe. But I do feel extremely frustrated because there are so many times where get in my car, buckle the belt, press the start button and nothing happens other than very annoying beeping. All because I forgot my FOB and I then have to go back into the house to get it. On the other hand, I’ve never forgotten my phone.

  • Man beaten, robbed of $95,000 worth of iPhones outside Apple Store

Hey, I've got an idea: I'm going to go to the main NYC Apple Store at around 2AM, buy a QUARTER-MILLION DOLLARS worth of iPhones, then walk to my car with them in three large Apple shopping bags! What could go wrong?

Sorry, but this story doesn't pass the smell test. I live in Manhattan, not very far from this store, and no one who regularly makes purchases this large from NYC Apple locations would handle purchases this way. It's just dumb. Heck, I wouldn't be walking to my car with AirPods in an Apple bag at 2AM.

As for "lawless" NYC: that gets repeated so often in right-leaning media, you might even think it's true. It's not. Crime is up, no doubt--but it's up from historic lows, pre-Covid. If you look at NYC crime data going back many decades, we're still at the lower end of the data, historically--not remotely close to how it's portrayed. That said, the upward trend in some crime categories should be addressed now, before it gets worse.
Thank you for the last paragraph. Very well written. It’s frustrating to me that some people seem to want to make everything about politics when the story isn’t even about politics. The part I hate is the unwarranted demonization of the other party.

Be very careful there Phil. More than  Half of this country  and likely more than half of the Apple users agree with Musk and his views on Free speech .

So political statements like this is not what shareholders want to see.
Ironically you are advising him to be weary of expressing his own free speech.
Well no, as long as he represents Apple and is beholden to shareholders, he has a duty to act in a manner that will not damage the shareholders

if he resigns, he can ran around with his pants off protesting a Twitter no problem!
How would it damage shareholders by not being on Twitter? How did they manage before Twitter? What if Twitter goes bankrupt and the site closes for good? Will Apple stock tank?
