    I myself have been switching the color settings on my Macs to accomodate for this for more than 10 years now (way before f.lux). A simple AppleScript that automatically switches Display Profiles by time of day. Sure, you can add some bells and whistles but the idea is exactly the same. I welcome Apple's move to add this to the system as a pure convenience factor.
    This. As far as I can tell f.lux isn't doing anything that's not been done before and I don't get the sense they have any strong patents around their implementation. They had to know Apple would eventually integrate this at a system level. And who knows maybe Apple will eventually open up an API for this.

    As for trample... Good grief. They had nothing that could be protected through IP... So, that's how it is.
    They should just be happy everyone has something they popularized on smartphones; their job is done.

    So when Apple puts existing tech in a smartphone it's innovative, when someone else does it's not? 
    Who is saying this is innovative? And f.lux has little to no valuable IP around this. This was a feature not a product. They had to know Apple would eventually incorporate it as an OS level feature.

    I frequent all the tech sites and I haven't seen this reported anywhere. The first time I heard about it was in my Twitter feed with someone asking what the media coverage would be like if this was an Apple product. Of course that was a rhetorical question.

  • Rumor: Second-gen Apple Watch going into trial production this month

    John Gruber was pretty brutal on the Watch on his latest podcast. He said it shouldn't have had apps and didn't deserve to sell as well as it apparently has. I think that's really unfair. The problem isn't apps it's that they take forever to load. If apps were instant like they are on iPhone would people be saying the watch shouldn't have apps? I don't think so. I'll bet the biggest feature of Watch 2 will be that everything you do with the Watch is faster.
