FCC pauses review of Sprint and T-Mobile merger
kidrock2199 said:AF_Hitt said:kidrock2199 said:This shouldn’t have even gotten this far to begin with. Less competition means higher prices for the consumer. I remember the huge stink the ATT/TMobile merger talks caused back in 2011. Everyone was against that! Now all of a sudden it’s ok for TMobile/Sprint to merge?
Not like I would ever use Sprint or TMobile because they are the crappiest of wireless services in my area, but still. This has the potential to raise prices on AT&T and Verizon’s end. Sprint and TMobile (here at least) are mainly used by low to low/middle income folks while AT&T and Verizon are pricier but provide superior service in much more areas making them a very reliable wireless service provider.

Apple working on headlight system that could highlight road hazards for drivers
farmboy said:redraider11 said:Mercedes has had that technology for a while now and their new Maybach can already project images onto the road like this.
I welcome the the competition from Apple in the car space, but while they may be one of the most innovative consumer tech companies it’s going to be tough going up against their equal in the auto industry.

I don't think potential Mercedes innovations should have any limiting effect on what Apple may do in the field. It's not winner take all.

ericthehalfbee said:My BMW does a lot of this. Night vision can spot pedestrians or animals and they get highlighted with a warning on my heads up display. Adaptive headlights can turn and highlight a person walking on the side of the road.

Supreme Court rules police always need warrant for cell tower location data
BuffyzDead said:Duh!!
The right decision was made, which is a No BrainerWhat is Truly Stunning
is that the "conservative" side of the court had no problem disregarding the fourth amendment of the US Constitution,
and
had no problem allowing the "government" to watch its citizens movements, collect their private communications, and intervene in their private financial matters WITHOUT a warrant ?!?!4th Amendment text:
Party Over Country
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized" -
Apple, Oprah Winfrey sign multi-year deal for TV programming
Really wish Apple wouldn’t try and follow Amazon’s and Netflix’s lead here. They don’t need to be in the content creation business. Why don’t they instead help Disney out with buying the rights to Fox and offer whatever streaming options that merger has to offer free or discounted rate to people who own Apple products?
