Like Jobs once said, Gate had no taste.  Jobs had taste but lacked execution and follow through until he came back to Apple.

Apple focused on design, marketing, and a few features that people could not live without with every iteration. 

By the time Zune was good enough, Apple already introduced iPhone in 2007 and the world had already focused its attention on smartphones.

What Gates and Microsoft were good at was play politics and kept partners happy.  Microsoft did not want to change the status quo because it was benefiting from it.

I don't know if this is a USB-C problem or Mac OS, but My M1 MacBook Air often forgets it has a monitor attached after waking up from sleep.  But still, I just don't see how a dedicated HDMI port would solve anything.  I'm fine using a single USB-C hub to connect/disconnect all my devices.

If I remembered correctly, Intel had a RISC-like core with CICS translation in "micro-code" to translate x86 instructions.  That was how Intel was able to increase frequencies so quickly back in the 90's

But don't see why Apple couldn't put multiple physical packages with N-cores each on the same system board. Moreover, Apple should do this as an expansion card for existing Intel Mac Pros so that Intel Mac Pros can run M1-apps natively.

Why stop at Intel Macs? heck if they could put M1 on a PCI expansion card, Let all Windows PC's run Mac/iOS software and the world is your oyster!
