FBI director reignites 'not so clean cut' encryption debate
"I just do not buy the claim that it is impossible", wow, another government servant skipped math class in college. Let me get it straight, you just do not buy the claim that it is impossible to make 1 + 1 = 3? Maybe we can copy what the Chinese government did: require every company submit a copy of their digital keys to the government. -
How iPhone batteries work, and how Apple manages performance over time
So this is Apple's secret sauce: instead of replaceable batteries, Apple slows down the custom CPU over time to make devices appear to be usable for longer period of time. This technique probably was in the very first iPhone, maybe even iPods days. Samsung probably knew about it because it was building CPU for the early iPhones. This is probably why my Nexus 7 had to be plugged in and can't seem to keep its charge after a couple of years. This is why my iPad 3 is still usable after 6 years. It is all because the battery is old. -
FCC votes to undo net neutrality protections despite public protests
Of course we know what they wanted to to do and have been doing for years. Telecoms are upset that tech companies were profiting transmitting packets over "their" equipment and wires. 1, Comcast throttled bandwidth from Netflix until Netflix agreed to pay. 2, ISP's were "injecting" ads over traffic (i.e. banner ads on Apple's websites) 3, Verizon has its own streaming network called Go90 where its content does not count toward the monthly cap Telecoms and Cable companies will find new ways to raise prices. They will also hijack and prioritize traffic based on their partnerships and "pay to play" models. My prediction: Google will buy Sprint, Apple will buy T-Mobile, Comcast will buy Netflix. AT&T and Verizon will be forced to cut prices as they lose customers to Apple and Google.Nobody really knows what the telecoms are going to do with this ruling, -
NAB calls for activation of iPhone FM radio feature Apple says does not exist
What did these people study in school? Political Science? It is like National Restaurant Association asking all French Restaurants to serve "French Fries" Besides, if the cell towers were destroyed, it is likely FM radio towers were destroyed or without power. Instead of adding component in a phone that you won't need 99% of the time, just buy an emergency radio.
