I can’t remember if it was Engadget or The Verge but they summed it up perfectly - if you want a 5K monitor then this is the one to buy. If you’re less fussy about resolution then there’s cheaper and better options out there.

I am fussy about resolution so I’ve ordered one. Hopefully Apple will sort out the webcam issues. Seems such a waste if all of that computing power can’t produce decent results.

You forget Apple's press coverage - both good and bad - is utterly hysterical. Look at the way the press handles coverage of kids who spent thousands of dollars on in-game consumables. Is the the fault of the parent for not setting up proper parental controls? No, it's all Apple's fault according to the press. 

What you're suggesting would be a total PR disaster for Apple.   

I'd hate to see Epic do to the Apple ecosystem what it's done to PC gaming.

It used to be that Steam was the one-stop shop for all games. Prices are fair and Steam's software is excellent. Then Epic comes along, uses its wealth from Fortnite to sign a bunch of exclusivity deals and now PC gamers are forced to install Epic's game launcher as well if they want to play the latest games. And Epic's game launcher is terrible.

On the surface, competition is good - but the likes of Epic aren't interested in fair competition. They'll use their weight to game the system and the experience will be worse for everyone.

The refresh rate is a little disappointing but I've still ordered one. The LG 5K monitor got discontinued in the UK a long time ago and there really aren't any other 5K options out there. It's more than I'd like to pay for a monitor (my LG 55" OLED TV only cost £100 more!) but that's true of pretty much any Apple product I've bought over the years.
